Our prediction for this Premier League match:
After dropping two points in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal, Chelsea will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Brentford in yet another London derby. The Blues have improved offensively and their performance in the North London derby is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of Saturday’s clash. Fit-again fullback Reece James is pushing for a start, while all Chilwell, Fofana, and Chalobah remain in the recovery room.
Meanwhile, the Bees did well to crush Burnley 3-0 in front of home fans, but given their three-game winless run on the road, we predict that the hosts are going to pick up all three points from the local derby. Thomas Frank is unlikely to make changes to the team that outplayed the Clarets at the weekend. The likes of Keane Lewis-Potter, Kevin Schade, Rico Henry, Mikkel Damsgaard, Shandon Baptiste, and Joshua Da Silva remain in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Thiago Silva):
Brazilian defender Thiago Silva is one of the highest rated defenders in world football. Having emerged from Fluminense youth ranks, the 31-year-old defender established himself as a world-class performer while plying his trade for AC Milan from 2009 to 2012.
Having largely contributed to Rossonerri’s title winning campaign in 2010-11, Thiago Silva moved to Paris Saint-Germain together with Zlatan Ibrahimovic for a reported fee worth €42 million, which made him then second-most expensive defender in football history after Rio Ferdinand.
Silva was an immediate success at the French club, helping Les Parisiens win four consecutive Ligue 1 titles in the process. Heavily linked with a move away from Parc des Princes, fan favourite Thiago Silva remains a key figure at Paris Saint-Germain and a leader of the new wave under head coach Unai Emery. Having already surpassed the 100-game mark for the French giants, Thiago Silva is slowly writing his name in the history books of Paris Saint-Germain.
Highlighted Team (Brentford):
Based in London, Brentford compete in the Championship and they were founded in 1898. Griffin Park has been the home ground of the club since 1904 and the capacity of the venue is 12,300.
The Bees have yet to play in the Premier League and it has to be noted that they made it to the FA Cup sixth round on four occasions (1937/1938, 1945/1946,1948/1949, 1988/1989). Brentford played in the League Cup round 4 in the 1982/1983 and 2010/2011 season and that is the club’s biggest success in the competition.
Brentford’s main rivals are Fulham and Queens Park Rangers and they take on each other in the West London Derby. The rivalry with the Cottagers is probably the biggest and you should bear in mind that the clashes between the two teams have their history of crowd violence. The colour of Brentford’s shirts is red and white and they wear black shorts.
