Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Portman Road will host Saturday’s Premier League game between Ipswich Town and Leicester City, the two bottom-table sides. The Tractor Boys are still eyeing their first win of the season, but given their poor form in the national championship, home triumph should not be considered. You should bear in mind that the newcomers have conceded ten goals in total in the previous three league fixtures. Adding to their woes, midfielder Harrison Clarke serves a one-game ban, while Chiedozie Ogbene has joined Sam Morsy, Jack Taylor, Jacob Greaves, Axel Tuanzebe, and Massimo Luongo in the treatment table.
The Foxes, on the other hand, aim to recover from a 3-1 loss to Nottingham Forest and given the number of absentees in the home team, we believe that there is a big value in betting on Leicester City. Victor Kristiansen has overcome his injury, but all Jannik Vestergaard, Hamza Choudhury, Jakub Stolarczyk, and Patson Daka remain on the sidelines for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Jamie Vardy):
Spending his early career playing no-league football, Jamie Vardy made the headlines when he joined Leicester City in a £1 million deal in 2012, but little did he know that he would go on to become a genuine Premier League star just three years later.
The experienced forward helped the Foxes gain promotion to the elite division and then score more than 20 goals as they mounted an unlikely title bid, earning worldwide acclaim as well as a place in the England squad. Vardy went on to score his first two goals for the Three Lions in March 2016 friendlies, with his back-heel goal against Germany in Berlin seeing him instantly become a fans’ favourite.
Over the years, Vardy has earned a reputation as a striker who never gives up and can be a real menace for opposition defenders, but his excellent goalscoring record and good link-up play are enough to suggest he can be described as a mix of old-style pacey forwards and modern strikers.
Highlighted Team (Ipswich):
Ipswich Town are an English football club that was formed in 1878. Portman Road has been the home ground of Ipswich Town since 1894 and the capacity of the venue, which was expanded in 2002, is 30,311. The Tractor Boys compete in the Championship, but they used to play in the English Premier League in the past as well. Ipswich Town last appeared in the elite division in the 2001/2002 season.
Ipswich won the FA Cup in 1978, with the team beating Arsenal (1-0) in the title game. However, the club’s biggest success came in 1981 when they outplayed AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Cup final. It has to be noted that the Tractor Boys have yet to suffer a loss at home ground in the European competitions.
Norwich City are regarded as Ipswich Town’s bitterest rivals and it is well known that the two sides take on each other in the East Anglian derby.
