Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Anfield will be the battlefield of Sunday’s Premier League derby between Liverpool and Manchester City. The Reds dropped two points in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Brentford, with the team struggling at the back even without Virgil Van Dijk in the starting XI. Mohamed Salah extended his goal-scoring run at the weekend, and, no doubt, the Egypt international will pose a big threat for Man City defenders in the Anfield showdown.
Joel Matip could drop to the bench following a poor performance against Brentford, with both Konate and Gomez pushing for a start. Midfielder Keita, Thiago Alcantara, and Elliott remain in the recovery room. The Citizens will rely on fit-again midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, who returned to the starting XI in a 1-0 win over Chelsea. Since Liverpool have been struggling at the back of late, away win should be considered. Both Mendy and Gundogan are sidelined with injuries, while left-back Zinchenko is a major doubt.
Highlighted Player (Sadio Mané):
Sadio Mane is a Senegalese footballer who plays for Liverpool as a winger. Mane was born in Sedhiou Senegal on April 10, 1992, but he made his senior debut at French club Metz. In 2012 he moved to Red Bull Salzburg, with the pacey winger scoring 31 goals in 63 appearances for the club in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Mane then decided to take a step forward in his career as he joined famous Premier League club Liverpool for a fee of £34 million, signing a five-year contract with the Reds. The Senegal international quickly established himself as a first-team regular at Liverpool and, no doubt, he helped the Anfield outfit make it to the 2017/2018 Champions League final.
Speaking of trophies, Sadio Mane won the Austrian Bundesliga with Salzburg in the 2013/2014 season. In 2017 he was named Liverpool player of the year for the 2016/2017 season. Sadio Mane made his Senegal debut in 2012 and he was part of the Senegal team that participated at the 2012 Olympic tournament.
Highlighted Team (Man City):
Manchester City are the lest famous of the two major clubs based in Manchester. The club was founded in 1880, but they have been struggling in the English Premier League in the past. Nonetheless, ever since the club was purchased by Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, the Citizens have been playing an important role in the English top flight.
Manchester City won two Premier League trophies under Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini (2011/2012 and 2013/2014), but both managers eventually paid the price for some disappointing results. Man City play their home games at the Etihad Stadium and the stadium capacity is 55,097.
Manchester United are regarded as Manchester City’s biggest rivals and the likes of Kun Aguero, Carlos Tevez, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Uwe Rosler, Yaya Toure, Sylvain Distin are some of the most remarkable players that played for the Etihad Stadium outfit. Manchester City have won four Premier League titles and five FA Cup trophies and it has to be noted that they made it to the Champions League semis in the 2015/2016 season.
