Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Sparkles will be flying when Tottenham and Brentford take on each other in an eagerly-awaited London derby on Wednesday evening. Spurs aim to recover from the FA Cup defeat to Man City, but they are still without key player Heung-Min Son, who is on international duty with South Korea. Both Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr are at the Africa Cup of Nations. Fit-again midfielder James Maddison is pushing for a start, while both Giovani Lo Celso and Ivan Perisic are sidelined with injuries.
The Bees, on the other hand, defeated Nottingham Forest 3-2 on Ivan Toney’s return from suspension. Toney is likely to prove a handful for the opposition back-line and given Brentford’s attacking potential, both teams to score betting option should be considered. As for the away team, all Saman Ghoddos, Ji-soo Kim, Frank Onyeka and Yoane Wissa are on international duty, while the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Aaron Hickey, Kevin Schade, and Christian Norgaard miss out with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Ben Davies):
After graduating from the Swansea City academy, Ben Davies was surprisingly given a chance to shine as Neil Taylor suffered a difficult injured, and he grabbed it with both hands to become a starter in his first ever Premier League season. The Welsh left-back, who is also capable of operating in the heart of defence, continued with impressive performances in the elite division and one more strong season saw Tottenham Hotspur express their interest in his services and eventually secured his signature.
Davies has since been vying England international Danny Rose for a starting position and even though he has been playing second fiddle of late, the defender is seen as a great prospect for the future.
After initially playing at left-back in the Wales National team, Davies was moved to left centre-back position as Chris Coleman switched to 5-4-1 formation, and he has impressed playing alongside captain Ashley Williams and James Chester as the Dragons clinched qualification to the Euro 2016 finals.
Highlighted Team (Brentford):
Based in London, Brentford compete in the Championship and they were founded in 1898. Griffin Park has been the home ground of the club since 1904 and the capacity of the venue is 12,300.
The Bees have yet to play in the Premier League and it has to be noted that they made it to the FA Cup sixth round on four occasions (1937/1938, 1945/1946,1948/1949, 1988/1989). Brentford played in the League Cup round 4 in the 1982/1983 and 2010/2011 season and that is the club’s biggest success in the competition.
Brentford’s main rivals are Fulham and Queens Park Rangers and they take on each other in the West London Derby. The rivalry with the Cottagers is probably the biggest and you should bear in mind that the clashes between the two teams have their history of crowd violence. The colour of Brentford’s shirts is red and white and they wear black shorts.
