Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Expect an electrifying atmosphere at London Stadium when West Ham United and Tottenham square off against each other in the London derby. The Hammers aim to recover from a 4-3 loss to Newcastle United, but they face yet another tough challenge in the midweek clash. Alphonse Areola is a major doubt after suffering a groin injury in the St. James’ Park defeat, with Lukasz Fabianski being ready to step up. Edson Salvarez serves a one-game ban due to the accumulation of yellow cards.
Ange Postecoglou’s men, on the other hand, came from behind to beat Luton Town 2-1 at the weekend, with the team keeping their Champions League hopes alive. Tottenham do look sharp in front of goal and given West Ham’s attacking potential at London Stadium, both teams to score betting option should be considered. Pacey Wales forward Brennan Johnson should be recalled to the starting XI, while all Fraser Forster, Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon, and Alfie Whiteman remain in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Heung-min Son):
Over the years Son Heung-Min has established himself as one of the best Asian footballers. Son is a Tottenham Hotspur first-team regular and he played a very important role in Mauro Pochettino’s team in the 2017/2018 Premier League campaign, scoring 12 goals, while making 37 appearances in the process.
The South Korean footballer, who is well known for his speed and a very powerful shot, was born in Chuncheo on 8 July 1992 and he began his youth career at FC Seoul. In 2008 he moved to Hamburger SV, but he made his senior debut for the Bundesliga club two years later. In 2013 he signed a deal with fellow German side Bayer Leverkusen and he scored 21 goals in 62 appearances in the Bundesliga for the BayArena outfit.
In 2015 he signed a five-year contract with Spurs for a fee of £22 million. Son Heung-min made his South Korea debut in a friendly against Syria in 2010.
Highlighted Team (West Ham):
West Ham United are an English football club based in East London. The club was founded in 1895 and it has to be noted that the club’s name was Thames Ironworks back then. The Hammers were playing their home games at Upton Park from 1904 until 2016, when they moved to the Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
West Ham have won three FA Cup trophies (1964, 1975 and 1980) and they were runners-up in 1923 and 2006. The capital club finished the 1985/1986 England first division campaign in third place in the standings and that is the club’s highest placing in the top flight. West Ham United have strong rivalries with fellow London clubs, but Tottenham Hotspur are considered the club’s main rivals.
A number of top-class players were part of West Ham in the past and the likes of Joe Cole, Carlos Tevez, Paolo Di Canio, Paul Ince, Julian Dicks, Shaka Hislop, Michael Carrick and Slaven Bilic are some of them.
