Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Real Madrid will look to overtake their local rivals Atletico Madrid in top position when they face Almeria at Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos on Saturday evening. The Andalusians failed to impress in their season opener, with the team losing to Rayo Vallecano on home soil and, as a result, the bookies see them as big underdogs in the clash with Real Madrid. Both Leo Baptistao and Martin Svidersky remain in the treatment room, but there are no fresh injury worries in the home side.
Los Blancos, on the other hand, kicked off the new La Liga campaign in style, with the team beating Athletic Bilbao 2-0 at San Mames and seeing that Almeria suit the Spanish powerhouse, away triumph should be considered. Karim Benzema is no longer part of the team and, in his absence, a man to watch in the away side will be summer signing Jude Bellingham, who opened his goalscoring account at the weekend. Eder Militao has joined Thibaut Courtois and Ferland Mendy in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (David Alaba):
David Alaba started his youth career at SV Aspern and in 2002 he joined Austria Wien. Bayern Munich chiefs decided to sign him and he was promoted to the reserve team for the 2009/2010 campaign. He made 33 appearances for Bayern Munich II and he has been playing for the first team since 2010. At the age of 17 Alaba made his Champions League debut on 9 March, 2010 against Fiorentina.
The Austrian international is a full back, but he is capable of playing as a left midfielder as well. He represented Austria at the 2016 European Championship finals in France, but das Team failed to impress at the showpiece tournament, suffering elimination in the group stages. David Alaba won his fifth Bundesliga title with Bayern in the 2015/2016 season and he clinched the Champions League trophy with FCB in 2013.
Speaking of his individual honours, he was named Austrian Footballer of the Year in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Alaba was born in Wien on 24 June, 1992.
Highlighted Team (Almeria):
UD Almeria is a Spanish club based in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Los Rojiblancos are one of the newer additions to the Spanish football system, with the club being founded on July 26, 1989.
Almeria suffered relegation to Segunda Division in the 2014/15 season, and they have been competing in the Spanish second tier ever since. Los Rojiblancos are well known for their white shirts with red stripes, while blue is the dominant colour of their away jersey. Sofiane Feghouli, Felipe Melo, Diego Alves, Veljko Paunovic, Aleix Vidal, Alvaro Negredo, Tomer Hemed, and Mate Bilic are some notable footballers who played for Almeria in the past. Fellow Andalusian clubs Sevilla, Malaga, and Granada are considered the club’s fiercest rivals.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del Rey came in the 2010/11 season when they made it to the semis of the prestigious competition. Nonetheless, Catalan giants Barcelona proved to be a big catch for Almeria in the Spanish Cup semi-finals.
