Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Sunday’s football game at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano pits together Atletico Madrid and Espanyol, the two teams with entirely different ambitions for the 2019/2020 La Liga season. Los Rojiblancos aim to regain the domestic trophy, whereas los Periquitos are determined to secure yet another top flight survival. Atletico Madrid were more than unfortunate not to beat Sevilla at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan at the weekend as Diego Costa failed to convert a penalty in the 72nd minute.
Still, they are surely capable of beating the relegation strugglers on home soil. Over the years, Diego Simeone’s troops have turned their Estadio Wanda Metropolitano into a real fortress, and although big-money signing Joao Felix remains in the recovery room, home win should be considered. In their last meeting in Madrid, los Rojiblancos recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Catalan outfit.

Highlighted Player (Sime Vrsaljko):

Born in Zadar on 10th January 1994, Sime Vrsaljko is one of the most talented footballers from Croatia’s new generation, who has already made a name for himself in Italian Serie A and Europe. The right-sided defender came through Dinamo Zagreb’s famous youth school and he earned plenty of top flight experience at a very young age before moving to Italy in 2013.
After spending a year at Genoa, Vrsaljko signed for Sassuolo with a view of moving to Juventus in the future, although he has yet to realise a big club move. Capable of operating on either side of defence, Vrsaljko has emerged as one of league’s top full-backs and it is only a matter of time before he joins a top European club.
Having represented Croatia at various youth levels, the defender made his senior debut in 2011 and has since come very close to nailing down a regular starting berth. Vrsaljko has a bright future in the game and he will be present at international stage in years to come.
Highlighted Team (Espanyol):

Espanyol are a Catalan club that plays in Spanish La Liga. Espanyol were founded in 1900 and their original name was Sociedad Espanola de Football. In 1901 the Catalan club changed its name to Club Espanol de Futbol. Los Periquitos used to play in bright yellow shirts in the past, but current colour of the team’s home kit is blue and white.
Espanyol’s fiercest rivals are Barcelona and the two teams face each other in the Catalan derby (Derbi barceloni). Espanyol have always been in Barca’s shadow, but it has to be noted that los Periquitos have won four Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup trophies).
The likes of Raul Tamudo, Jose Maria, Antonio Argiles and Mauricio Pochettino are players with most appearances for the Catalan outfit. Espanyol play their home games at Estadio Cornella-El Prat and the capacity of the stadium is 40,500. Los Periquitos have never participated in the Champions League.
