Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Espanyol will look to make amends for a 2-1 loss to Getafe when they face Granada at their RCDE Stadium on Matchday 13. Los Periquitos have been impressive at home ground of late, with the team beating all Alaves, Real Madrid, and Cadiz, while sharing the spoils with Athletic Club. Espanyol obviously produce much better showings at home than on the travels, and it is no wonder the bookies see them as favourites to win Saturday’s clash.
The good news for the hosts is that key attacker Raul de Tomas returns from suspension. Los Granadinos, on the other hand, aim to build on a thrilling 3-0 win over Levante. The Andalusians are undefeated in the previous four league fixtures, and seeing that Espanyol are tough to beat at home, we are tempted to put our money on draw. All Maxime Gonalons, Domingos Duarte, Isma Ruiz, and Yan Brice should miss out with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Diego Lopez):
Diego Lopez is a Spanish goalkeeper who plays for Milan in the Serie A. Lopez was born in Paradela on 3 November, 1981 and he played for Lugo during his youth career. He made two appearances for Lugo at senior level as well, but in 2000 he joined Real Madrid.
The 196-cm-tall shoot-stopper played for both Real Madrid C and Real Madrid B and he made just two appearances for the first team during his first spell at Real Madrid. After spending five seasons at Villarreal (2007-2012) the Spanish goalkeeper played for Sevilla in the 2012/2013 La Liga campaign, but he made no more than eight league appearances for los Sevillanos.
He returned to Real Madrid on January, 2013 and he quickly established himself as a first-team regular, replacing Iker Casillas in the starting XI. However, Real Madrid fans wanted to see Iker between the posts and, as a result, Diego Lopez was forced to join Milan in 2014. Lopez has only one cap for Spain national team.
Highlighted Team (Granada):
Granada are an Andalusian football club that plays in Spanish La Liga. The club were founded on 14 April, 1931 and they have yet to win the Primera Division trophy. El Grana, though, booked their place in the Spanish Cup final in 1959, but Barcelona proved to be a big catch for the Andalusian outfit.
Granada host their rivals at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, the stadium that was built in 1995. The capacity of the stadium is 23,934. Granada’s main rivals are fellow Andalusian team Sevilla, but Real Betis are regarded as the club’s bitter rivals as well.
The likes of Yacine Brahimi, Juan Aguero, Gustavo Benitez, Pahinho, Denis Milar, Julio Montero Castillo, Capi, Cesar and Jose Mingorance are famous players that were part of the Estadio El Sadar outfit in the past. The original colour of Granada’s kits were blue and white, but after the Spanish Civil War the club chiefs bought new ones (red and white).
