Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Coliseum Alfonso Perez will host Wednesday’s football game between Getafe and Almeria, the two bottom-table sides. Los Azulones are eager to make amends for a 3-1 loss to Mallorca and they are likely to leave their hearts on the field in the relegation six-pointer. Mauro Arambarri is a major doubt, and he will be assessed ahead of the kick-off.
The Andalusians, on the other hand, aim to recover from back-to-back defeats to Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao. Since Almeria are eager to go for a win as well, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. Largie Ramazani is back from suspension, while both Houboulang Mendes and El Bilal Toure remain in the recovery room. Sergio Akieme is a major doubt, and he will be assessed ahead of the kick-off. In their last meeting in Madrid Getafe rolled over Almeria 4-0.
Highlighted Player (Djené):
A central defender who can equally be deployed as a right-back, Djene Dakonam has emerged as one of the most influential Getafe players in the 2017/18 season. His road to prominence was a long one, however, and Djene had to bide his time in order to be recognized for quality he undoubtedly possesses. Dapaong-born Togolese international, Djene Dakonam made his first football steps as a youth member of Etoile Filante.
Spells in Benin and Cameroon with Tonnerre d’Abomey and Coton Sport, respectively, saw Djene Dakonam grab attention of Alcoron, who moved in to bring him to Spain in 2014. During two years in Spain Djene Dakonam made 59 league appearances before moving to Sint-Truidense. It was in Belgium that Djene Dakonam proved his defensive versatility and Getafe came calling the very next year, in 2017.
Djene proved to be an instant hit with the Azulones and is hoping a move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs will not be too far away for him. The likes of Arsenal and Tottenham have been sniffing around him during the summer transfer window in 2018 but were ultimately scared off by his £31 million release clause.
Highlighted Team (Almeria):
UD Almeria is a Spanish club based in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Los Rojiblancos are one of the newer additions to the Spanish football system, with the club being founded on July 26, 1989.
Almeria suffered relegation to Segunda Division in the 2014/15 season, and they have been competing in the Spanish second tier ever since. Los Rojiblancos are well known for their white shirts with red stripes, while blue is the dominant colour of their away jersey. Sofiane Feghouli, Felipe Melo, Diego Alves, Veljko Paunovic, Aleix Vidal, Alvaro Negredo, Tomer Hemed, and Mate Bilic are some notable footballers who played for Almeria in the past. Fellow Andalusian clubs Sevilla, Malaga, and Granada are considered the club’s fiercest rivals.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del Rey came in the 2010/11 season when they made it to the semis of the prestigious competition. Nonetheless, Catalan giants Barcelona proved to be a big catch for Almeria in the Spanish Cup semi-finals.
