Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Following an amazing comeback in a 2-1 win at Valencia, Real Madrid will be aiming to cement top position in the standings when they host Mallorca to their Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday evening. Los Blancos made a promising start to the season, with Karim Benzema continuing where he left last term. Even though Dani Carvajal suffered an injury in the triumph at “Mestalla”, home win should be considered as Real Madrid have been in a fine form at the start of the season. Fit-again star midfielder Luka Modric should keep his place in the starting XI, while summer signing Camavinga is pushing for a start.
All Toni Kroos, Marcelo, Ferland Mendy, Gareth Bale, and Dani Ceballos remain in the recovery room. Mallorca, on the other hand, are not regarded as good travelers, and even though they managed to hold Villarreal to a goalless draw at the weekend, the newcomers are unlikely to grab something from the midweek clash. Pablo Maffeo, who limped off with injury in the draw with the Yellow Submarine, is unlikely to feature against Real Madrid.
Highlighted Player (Luka Modric):
Luka Modric is regarded as one of the best central midfielders in world football. The Croatian ace is a product of Dinamo Zagreb’s youth school and it has to be noted that he played 94 league games for the Modri between 2003 and 2008. In 2008 he signed a six-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £16.5 million.
Luka made his Tottenham debut on 16 August, 2008 in a 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough at Riverside Stadium. The Croatian star scored only 13 goals in 127 league appearances for the Spurs, but he is well known for his brilliant passing. In 2012 he signed for Real Madrid for a fee of £30 million and he made his debut against Barcelona in the 2012 Spanish Super Cup, return leg.
Modric quickly established himself as a first-team regular and, no doubt, he helped the capital club win two Champions League trophies (2013/2014, 2015/2016). You should bear in mind that he was named Croatian Footballer of the Year in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2014.
Highlighted Team (Mallorca):
Thanks to a win over Deportivo La Coruna in the 2018/2019 Segunda Division play-offs final Mallorca secured promotion to Primera Division. Los Bermellones returned to the Spanish top flight following a six-year absence. Over the years Mallorca have turned their Estadi de son Moix into a real fortress, with the team producing much better showings at home than on the travels.
Opened in June 1999, the venue can hold up to 23,142 people. The club based in Balearic Islands are well known for their red shirts with one black stripe and black shorts. Mallorca’s away colours are white and red. Former Barcelona and Inter ace Samuel Eto’o is undisputedly the most notable footballer who played for the club.
Back in 1999 Mallorca made it to the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final, with the team suffering a 2-1 loss to Lazio in the title game. Four years later los Bermellones won Spanish Copa del Rey, which is considered the club’s biggest success.
