Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
There will be fireworks when Valencia and Atletico Madrid square off against each other in a highly-anticipated La Liga game. Los Che aim to recover from back-to-back defeats to Osasuna and Alaves, but they face a tough challenge against los Rojiblancos. Both Gabriel Paulista and Alberto Mari are sidelined with injuries, but Samu Castillejo should recover in time to face the capital club.
Diego Simeone’s men, meanwhile, were not in action on Matchday 4 as their clash with Sevilla was postponed. Anyhow, away win should be considered as Atletico Madrid cruised past Rayo Vallecano (7-0) in their last away game in the Spanish top flight. The likes of Memphis Depay, Koke, Jose Gimenez, Machin Perez, and Reinildo Mandava should miss out through injuries for the visiting side. You should know that Atletico emerged triumphant in each of the previous three meetings with Valencia in the Spanish top flight.
Highlighted Player (Antoine Griezmann):
Anthony Griezmann is a French forward born on 21st March 1991 in Macon, and he is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting footballers at the moment. The pacey striker started showing his potential shortly after coming through Real Sociedad’s youth academy and he went on to score 46 goals in 179 league appearances for La Real. Excellent displays in Spanish la Liga saw him become a target for a number of top clubs, but he eventually choose to sign for Atletico Madrid, and that proved to be a very good decision.
Griezmann continued the rich vein of form at Vicente Calderon, scoring some important goals as los Colchoneros enjoyed domestic and European success, while also becoming a key member of the France national team.
Playing as a winger or second striker, Griezmann possesses impressive technical skills, he is a strong finisher and still finds time to work hard for his side, so no wonder he is widely regarded as one of the leading forwards on the continent. He won the U19 European Championship with France and is tipped to lead Les Bleus to glory on senior level as well.
Highlighted Team (Valencia):
Founded on March 18, 1919, Valencia FC are a Spanish football club that compete in La Liga. Los Che play their home games at Estadio de Mestalla, the stadium which was opened back in May, 1923. The capacity of the venue is 50,000. Seeing that bats are quite common in Valencia, it is no surprise they are nicknamed the Bats.
Valencia made it to the Champions League final on two occasions (2000, 2001), but they were beaten in the title games by Real Madrid and Bayern Munchen respectively. The Spanish club, though, did well to win the UEFA Cup title in the 2003/2004 season, with the team beating Marseille in the final of the competition.
A number of top-class footballers were part of the club in the past, with the likes of Pablo Aimar, Ruben Baraja, David Albelda, Santiago Canizares, John Carew and Gaizka Mendieta all playing for the Estadio de Mestalla outfit. Valencia main colors are white and black, whilst they often where orange jerseys and shorts when playing on the travels.
