Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Sunday’s football game at Estadio Jose Zorrilla pits together Real Valladolid and Espanyol, the two bottom-table sides. La Pucela are sitting in 17th place in the standings, only one point clear of the relegation zone, meaning that this match is of big importance for Pacheta’s troops. Selim Amallah is banned for the match, while all Kenedy, Jordi Masip, and Anuar are sidelined with injuries.
Los Periquitos, on the other hand, have been showing signs of improvement of late, with the team beating both Elche and Mallorca in the last two league matches, but seeing that Valladolid are tough to beat at home, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. Both Keidi Bare and Adria Pedrosa are sidelined with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the away team. A man to watch in the away side will be Martin Braithwaite, who scored a brace at the weekend.
Highlighted Player (Óscar Plano):
A Madrid-born attacking midfielder, Oscar Plano was given a unique opportunity not many footballers get at the beginning of their fledgling careers. As a talented youngster making his first football steps with a local side of Mostoles, Oscar Plano was soon grabbed by mighty Real Madrid.
Having spent eight years going through youth setups of the La Liga heavyweights, Plano was given his competitive debut at Real Madrid C in 2010. A season later earned him a promotion to Real Madrid’s B setup where in three seasons in total he made 63 league appearances and scored 7 goals. Having become fully aware that a chance to represent one of the biggest clubs in the world might be unachievable, Oscar Plano moved to Alcoron in 2014.
More than a 100 matches in three years at Santo Domingo made him one of the key players for Los Alfareros. The Spanish midfielder made a great contribution with helping Valladolid secure promotion to Spanish top flight in 2017/18 with 44 La Liga 2 appearances and 6 goals.
Highlighted Team (Espanyol):
Espanyol are a Catalan club that plays in Spanish La Liga. Espanyol were founded in 1900 and their original name was Sociedad Espanola de Football. In 1901 the Catalan club changed its name to Club Espanol de Futbol. Los Periquitos used to play in bright yellow shirts in the past, but current colour of the team’s home kit is blue and white.
Espanyol’s fiercest rivals are Barcelona and the two teams face each other in the Catalan derby (Derbi barceloni). Espanyol have always been in Barca’s shadow, but it has to be noted that los Periquitos have won four Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup trophies).
The likes of Raul Tamudo, Jose Maria, Antonio Argiles and Mauricio Pochettino are players with most appearances for the Catalan outfit. Espanyol play their home games at Estadio Cornella-El Prat and the capacity of the stadium is 40,500. Los Periquitos have never participated in the Champions League.
