Our prediction for this Scottish Premiership match:
Tynecastle Park will host Scottish Premiership opener between Hearts and Rangers. The Jambos finished the last season in third place in the standings and, as a result, they will represent Scotland in the Europa League this term. The club chiefs have signed permanent deals with the likes of Ryan Fulton, Musa Drammeh, Daniel Oyegoke, James Penrice, Blair Spittal, and Yan Dhanda in the summer transfer window, while Alex Cochrane and Andy Halliday are no longer part of the team.
The Gers, on the other hand, are determined to regain the domestic trophy and, no doubt, they want to kickstart new Premier League campaign in style. As Rangers chiefs have been pretty active in the summer transfer window, adding the likes of Mohamed Diomande, Hamza Igamane, Jefte, and Connor Barron to the squad, away win should be considered. Both Borna Barisic and John Lundstram have left the club.
Highlighted Player (Jon McLaughlin):
Jon McLaughlin is a goalkeeper who plays for Sunderland. The 188-cm-tall shoot-stopper played for non-League sides Harrogate Railway Athletic and Harrogate Town in the past, but in 2008 he joined Bradford City. After spending six years at Valley Parade, McLaughlin signed a contract with Burton Albion and he has been playing for the Pirelli Stadium outfit ever since.
Jon McLaughlin made 45 appearances for Burton Albion in both 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons and he has established his self as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. He was producing scintillating displays for Burton in the 2015/2016 League One campaign and, no doubt, he helped the team secure promotion to the Championship.
Jon McLaughlin was born on 9 September, 1987 in Edinburgh, but he has yet to make his debut for the Scotland national team. Speaking of his honours, the goalkeeper won the Football League Two play-offs with Bradford City in the 2012/2013 season.
Highlighted Team (Hearts):
Founded in 1874, Hearts are professional football club that compete in the Scotland Premiership. The Jam Tarts welcome their rivals at Tynecastle Park Gorgie, the stadium which can hold up to 20,000 spectators.
While the original Hearts strip was all white shirts and trousers with maroon trimmings, the club’s current home kit is all maroon with a white-collar. Hearts have won the Scottish Premier League title four times (1894/95, 1896/97, 1957/58, 1959/60), but they have been in Celtic and Rangers’ shadows in the 21st century. Hibernian are considered the club’s fiercest rivals. The two teams first met back in 1875 on Christmas Day, with Hearts winning the match 1-0. The Tynecastle Park Gorgie recorded their biggest win in 1880, with the team rolling over Anchor 21-0 in the FA Cup.
The club’s heaviest defeat came eight years later as Hearts were beaten by Vale of Leven 8-1 in the Scottish Cup. John Robertson is leading the club’s all-time goal-scoring chart, with the left winger netting 214 goals for the club.
