Our prediction for this Scottish Premiership match:
All eyes will be on Easter Road when Hibernian and Celtic face each other in the Premiership derby. The Hoops are determined to regain the domestic trophy, but Rangers are still breathing down their neck. A man to watch in the away team will be Greece attacker Georgios Giakoumakis, who scored a hat-trick at the weekend, whilst all Michael Johnston, Kyogo Furuhashi, David Turnbull, and Albian Ajeti are out of contention with injuries.
The Hibs, on the other hand, aim to build on a 2-0 win over Ross County. Hibernian did well to put an end to their dreadful winless run, but given Celtic’s four-game winning streak on the road, away win should be considered. All Paul McGinn, Demetri Mitchell, Paul Hanlon, Joe Newell, Harry Clarke, and Kyle Magennis have been struggling with injuries of late, speaking of the home team.
Highlighted Player (Christian Doidge):
Over the years Christian Doidge has established himself as one of the best attackers in Scotland Premiership. Born on August 25, 1992 in Newport, Doidge is a Wales international who plays for Hibernian in the Scottish top flight.
He is a product of the Southampton football academy, but he did not see any game action in the Premier League with the Saints. The towering striker played for Bristol Rovers during his youth career as well before joining Cwmbran Celtic at senior level. He played for the likes of Barry Town, Carmanthen Town, Dag & Red, Dartford (loan), Forest Green Rovers, and Bolton Wanderers (loan) as well before signing a deal with the Hibs.
Christian Doidge made his Scotland Premier League debut on August 3, 2019 in a 1-0 win over St. Mirren. The Wales attacker scored his first league goal for the Hibs against the same opponent three months late. Doidge has yet to receive a call-up for the Wales national football team.
Highlighted Team (Celtic):
The Celtic Football Club boasts a proud over 100-year long history which has made The Bhoys a global brand thanks to their unprecedented social awareness that dates to the very beginnings of this Scottish club. Celtic was founded in 1887 with the purpose of alleviating poverty in the immigrant Irish population in the East End of Glasgow by raising money to help their fellow citizens.
The charity legacy continues to this day with Celtic still preserving their charitable traditions through the Celtic FC Foundation. The Celts play their home matches at Celtic Park in front of 60,000 people. One of the two most successful football clubs in Scotland with 47 Scottish League Championship titles to their name, Celtic have a long-standing fierce rivalry with Rangers, with the clubs known as the Old Firm.
European Cup winners from season 1966-67 and runners-up two years later, Celtic have been regular in European competitions since their first appearance in 1962-63. Their other most standout results have been runners-up in the EUFA Cup in 2003 and Intercontinental Cup in 1967.
