Our prediction for this Scottish Premiership match:
Following a 1-1 draw with St Johnstone before the international break, Kilmarnock will look to return to winning ways when they take on Hearts on Matchday 30. The Killie failed to win the previous five league fixtures, and they face yet another difficult task against the third-place side. Both Liam Polworth and Ben Chrisene are sidelined with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the home team.
Meanwhile, the Jambos aim to make amends for back-to-back losses to Celtic (1-3) and Aberdeen (0-3). Hearts, though, have been struggling on the travels of late, and given their three-game losing run on the road, we do not believe that they are capable of grabbing more than one point from Saturday’s encounter. As for the visiting team, Peter Haring is back in training, while all Yutaro Oda, Craig Halkett, Gary Mackay-Steven, and Beni Baningime remain on the sidelines with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Christian Doidge):
Over the years Christian Doidge has established himself as one of the best attackers in Scotland Premiership. Born on August 25, 1992 in Newport, Doidge is a Wales international who plays for Hibernian in the Scottish top flight.
He is a product of the Southampton football academy, but he did not see any game action in the Premier League with the Saints. The towering striker played for Bristol Rovers during his youth career as well before joining Cwmbran Celtic at senior level. He played for the likes of Barry Town, Carmanthen Town, Dag & Red, Dartford (loan), Forest Green Rovers, and Bolton Wanderers (loan) as well before signing a deal with the Hibs.
Christian Doidge made his Scotland Premier League debut on August 3, 2019 in a 1-0 win over St. Mirren. The Wales attacker scored his first league goal for the Hibs against the same opponent three months late. Doidge has yet to receive a call-up for the Wales national football team.
Highlighted Team (Hearts):
Founded in 1874, Hearts are professional football club that compete in the Scotland Premiership. The Jam Tarts welcome their rivals at Tynecastle Park Gorgie, the stadium which can hold up to 20,000 spectators.
While the original Hearts strip was all white shirts and trousers with maroon trimmings, the club’s current home kit is all maroon with a white-collar. Hearts have won the Scottish Premier League title four times (1894/95, 1896/97, 1957/58, 1959/60), but they have been in Celtic and Rangers’ shadows in the 21st century. Hibernian are considered the club’s fiercest rivals. The two teams first met back in 1875 on Christmas Day, with Hearts winning the match 1-0. The Tynecastle Park Gorgie recorded their biggest win in 1880, with the team rolling over Anchor 21-0 in the FA Cup.
The club’s heaviest defeat came eight years later as Hearts were beaten by Vale of Leven 8-1 in the Scottish Cup. John Robertson is leading the club’s all-time goal-scoring chart, with the left winger netting 214 goals for the club.
