Our prediction for this Scottish Premiership match:
After rolling over Kilmarnock 6-0 in a midweek clash, Rangers will look to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they face Ross County on Matchday 16. The Gers are 11 points behind league leaders Celtic in the standings, meaning that this has to go down as a must-win game for Phillipe Clement’s troops. Cyriel Dessers should be recalled to the starting XI after scoring a brace in Wednesday’s triumph, while the likes of Cortes, Ksanwirjo, Lawrence, and Matondo remain in the recovery room.
The Staggies, on the other hand, failed to spoil Celtic’s party in Glasgow at the weekend and they face yet another uphill task this weekend. As Rangers produced a brilliant performance in the crushing of Kilmarnock, away win should definitely be considered. Goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw suffered a serious injury at Celtic Park, meaning that Jack Hamilton will start in goal.
Highlighted Player (Tom Lawrence):
Tom Lawrence is a Welsh footballer who plays as a winger for Championship side Derby County. Born in Wrexham (Wales) on January 13, 1994, Tom Lawrence played for Everton and Manchester United during his youth career.
The 180-cm-tall footballer, though, made no more than one appearances for the Red Devils in the Premier League as he was immediately sent on loan to Carlisle United. The Wales international played for the likes of Yeovil Town, Leicester City, Rotherham United, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City and Ipswich Town as well before signing a contract with Derby County. Tom Lawrence’s main position is left winger, but he is used as both second striker and right winger as well.
The Derby County man made his Wales debut in November 2015 in a 3-2 loss to Netherlands. The highlight of his career is the goal he scored against Georgia in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. His preferred foot is right and he wears No. 10 jersey at Derby County.
Highlighted Team (Ross County):
Founded back in 1929, Ross County are professional football club that compete in the Scotland Premier League. The Staggies welcome their rivals at Victoria Park, the stadium which can accommodate up to 6,541 (all-seated) people. Ross County have a bitter rivalry with fellow Highlanders Inverness Caledonian, with the two teams facing each other in Highland derby.
The Staggies recorded their biggest win against St Cuthbert Wanderers (11-0) in the 1993/94 Scottish Cup round 1, whereas their biggest loss came in the third round of the 1961/62 Scottish Cup campaign, with the team suffered a 7-0 defeat to Kilmarnock. Michael Gardyne, who scored 71 goals in 392 appearances for Ross County, is leading the club’s all-time goal-scoring chart.
Ross County have never won the Scottish Premier League trophy, but they did well to make it to the Scottish Cup final in the 2009/10 season. The Staggies were beaten by Dundee United (0-3) in the title game at Hampden Park, Glasgow.
