Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Cartagena and Leganes square off against each other at Estadio Municipal Cartagonova in what is expected to be a close La Liga 2 encounter. The Black and Whites survived Azuaga in the Copa del Rey and they are now on a quest to return to winning ways in Segunda Division. Keep in mind, though, that Cartagena have not recorded a win in the Spanish second tier since September 2, 2023 when they defeated Villarreal 2-1 on the road. Arnau Sola misses out with a hamstring problem, while fellow midfielder Hector Hevel is rated doubtful for the match.
The capital club, on the other hand, have been in a splendid form of late, with the team extending their winning run in La Liga 2 to three games at the weekend, while beating Llerenense in the Spanish Cup. Leganes are more of a team than Cartagena and we predict that the visitors are going to showcase their worth on the field. Head coach Borja Jimenez has a luxury to field the best possible side against Cartagena.
Highlighted Player (Allan Nyom):
After playing amateur football in his homeland France, Allan Nyom began his professional career at Arles-Avignon. The pacey full back made 37 appearances for the club in the 2008/2009 season and at the end of the campaign he signed a deal with Serie A side Udinese. However, given the great collaboration between Udinese and Granada, he was immediately sent on loan to the Estadio Nuevo los Carmenes outfit.
Granada finished the 2009/2010 season in top position in the Segunda Division and, as a result, they secured automatic promotion to the Spanish top flight. Allan Nyom established himself as a first-team regular and it has to be noted that he made 32 appearances for los Granadinos in the 2011/2012 La Liga campaign. After spending five seasons at Granada, Nyom joined Watford in 2015 and he moved to fellow Premier League side WBA at the end of the season.
The WBA defender represents Cameroon on the international stage and he made his debut for Les Lions Indomptables on November 11, 2011.
Highlighted Team (Cartagena):
Founded on July 25, 1995, Cartagena is a Spanish football club that plays in La Liga 2. Los Boquerones dropped to Segunda B in the 2011/12 season, but following an eight-year absence, they returned to the Spanish second tier.
Cartagena play home matches at Cartagonova, the venue which can hold 15,105 spectators. The stadium was built by CMMP Arquitectos in 1987, and opened the following year. Real Murcia are regarded as the club’s main rivals, with the two teams facing each other in the Derbi of the Region of Murcia. Toche is leading Cartagena’s all-time top goalscoring chart with 39 goals.
Los Boquerones are well known for their black shirts with white stripes. Red, on the other hand, is the dominant colour of the club’s away kit. It has to be noted that Cartagena have never competed in la liga. The club’s highest ranking in the Segunda Division came in the 2009/10 season when they finished the campaign in 5th position in the standings.
