Valladolid
There will be fireworks when Las Palmas and Real Valladolid face each other at Estadio de Gran Canaria in what is expected to be a close encounter. La Union Deportiva failed to impress in the 2020/21 La Liga 2 season, and, no doubt, they are eager to make amends for the unsuccessful campaign. New signings Erick Ferigra and Armano Sadiku are both pushing for a start.
Keep in mind, though, that experienced attacker Sergio Araujo is no longer part of the team as he joined Greek side AEK Athens. La Pucela, on the other hand, were not competitive in the Spanish top flight last term, with the team suffering relegation to Segunda Division. Real Valladolid are eyeing a quick return to La Liga, and seeing that the club chiefs managed to keep hold of key players in the summer transfer window, away win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Sergio Araujo):
Sergio Araujo was born in Buenos Aires on 28 January, 1992 and, as expected, he started playing for his home-town club Boca Juniors. He made just 19 appearances for Boca in the league and he played for the likes of Barcelona B, Tigre and Las Palmas on loan in the past as well.
The Argentine attacker scored 25 goals in 43 appearances for los Amarillos in the 2014/2015 Segunda Division campaign and despite the fact that he was linked with a move to Celtic and Real Sociedad, the club owners managed to sign a permanent deal with the former Boca Juniors footballer.
Araujo has three caps for Argentina U23 team and he represented la Albiceleste at the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup. It has to be noted that he scored the winner for Argentina in the opening match of the tournament against Honduras. Araujo scored six goals in eight appearances for the Argentina U17 team. The pacey attacker has a contract with Las Palmas which expires on 30 June, 2020.

Real Valladolid is a Spanish club based in Valladolid, the part of the autonomous community of Castille and Leon. Founded in 1928, Real Valladolid play their home matches at Jose Zorilla, the venue that has the capacity 26,512. La Pucela have yet to win the La Liga title, but it is important to note that they finished fourth at the end of the 1962/1963 season.
Real Valladolid made it to the Spanish Cup final on two occasions (1949/1950, 1988/1989). In 1984 they won Copa de la Liga (League Cup), which is considered the team’s biggest success. Speaking of their European records, Real Valladolid participated in the 1989/1990 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup quarter-finals.
La Pucela are well known for their purple and white shirts, but they are known for some top-class footballers as well. The likes of Diego Costa, Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Borja Fernandez, Rene Higuita, Luis Garcia and Aritz Aduriz played for Real Valladolid in the past.
