Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Saturday’s football game at Estadio de Gran Canaria pits together Las Palmas and Zaragoza, the two teams who face each other in the opening match of the season. La Union Deportiva missed out on La Liga promotion last season, and, no doubt, they will give 100% to secure a top-two finish this time out. A man to watch in the home team will be Jonathan Viera, who scored 14 goals in the Spanish second tier last term.
Los Blanquillos, on the other hand, have established themselves as a mid-table side in La Liga 2, and seeing that Las Palmas are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we predict that the visitors will return to Aragon. Loanee Giuliano Simeone, who scored 25 goals with Atletico Madrid B last term, is widely expected to make his Zaragoza debut against Las Palmas.
Highlighted Player (Raul Fernandez):
Born in Bilbao, Spain on March 13, 1988 Raul Fernandez is a 196-cm-tall goalkeeper who plays for La Liga side Levante. Fernandez played for the youth team of his home-town club Athletic Bilbao from 1998 to 2006 and he began his senior career at fellow Basque outfit Basconia. After making 29 appearances for the club in the 2006/2007 season Raul Fernandez returned to Athletic Bilbao in 2007 and it has to be noted that he played 19 games for the reserve team.
After spending the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 seasons on loan at Conquense and Granada respectively the Spanish shoot-stopper started playing for Athletic Bilbao at senior level, but he made only five appearances for the Lions in La Liga.
In 2013 Raul Fernandez was loaned to Numancia and after ending his loan spell with los Rojillos he moved to Raving Santander. Nowadays the Basque footballer is a part of La Liga team Levante and you should know that he managed to keep 17 clean sheets in 33 appearances for los Levantinos in the 2016/2017 Segunda Division campaign.
Highlighted Team (Zaragoza):
Based in the autonomous community of Aragon, Zaragoza is a Spanish football club that plays in Segunda Division. The club was founded on March 18, 1932 and it plays their home matches at the legendary La Romareda stadium.
The venue opened on September 8, 1957 has the capacity of 33,608 people. Los Blanquillos wear white shirts and blue shorts when playing on home soil, while yellow is the dominant colour of their away kit. Zaragoza did well to win the la liga trophy in the 1977/78 season, with the team finishing the campaign four points clear of second-place Recreativo de Huelva.
Speaking of the club’s European success, Zaragoza clinched the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in the 1994/95 season as they defeated 2-1 in the title game. Fabio Coentrao, Pablo Aimar, Roberto Ayala, Diego Milito, Gabriel Milito, Cafu, and David Villa are the most notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Huesca are considered the club’s main rivals.
