Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Las Palmas will be aiming to retain top position in the La Liga 2 standings when they take on Mirandes on Matchday 8. The league leaders have been impressive at the back in the first half of the season, with the team conceding no more than one goal in the process, and they are likely to rely on their rock-solid defence in Saturday’s clash. All Florin Andone, Machin Perez, and Kirian Rodriguez are out of contention with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the away team.
Los Rojillos, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against Zaragoza, and they managed to get one, with the team recording their first triumph of the process. Mirandes aim to escape the relegation zone, but given La Union Deportiva’s brilliant form, away win should definitely be considered. Midfielder Jofre is back from suspension for the hosts.
Highlighted Player (Manu Garcia):
Manu Garcia is a product of Real Sociedad youth academy. The Spanish midfielder, who was born on 26 April, 1986, started playing for Real Sociedad B at the age of 19, making 101 appearances for the Basque outfit between 2005 and 2008. He scored 18 goals for Real Sociedad B and, as a result, Eibar chiefs decided to sign him in July, 2008. Manu Garcia spent the 2008/2009 season on loan at Real Union, scoring eight goals in 29 appearances for the club and in 2010 he joined Logrones.
Finally, in June 2012 he made probably the best decision of his career as he signed a contract with Segunda Division side Deportivo Alaves. Manu Garcia made 37 appearances for El Glorioso on his debut season and he quickly established himself as a first-team regular.
Garcia scored five goals for Alaves in the 2015/2016 Segunda Division campaign and, no doubt, he helped the team secure promotion to Primera Division. He has a contract with Alaves which expires on 30 June, 2018.
Highlighted Team (Las Palmas):
Las Palmas are a Spanish football club based in the Canary Islands. The club was founded on 22 August, 1949. Los Amarillos play in Spanish La Liga and the team’s home ground is Estadio Gran Canaria. The stadium was opened in 2003 and it’s current capacity is 32,150. Miguel Angel Ramirez is the club’s chairman and the club’s main rivals are Tenerife.
Las Palmas impressed in the 2015/2016 La liga campaign, with the team finishing the season in 11th place in the standings. However, it has to be noted that los Amarillos finished the 1968/1969 Primera Division campaign in second place in the table, 11 points behind Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Speaking of Copa del Rey, Las Palmas made it to the final of the Spanish Cup in 1978. Las Palmas eliminated Sporting Gijon in the semis (5-3), but Barcelona outplayed los Amarillos in the title game (3-1).
