Speaking of his international career, Martinez made his debut with the Dominican Republic national team on December 8, 2012 in a 2-1 win over Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean Cup.
His primary position is right-back, but he can be used as a right midfielder as well. Carlos Julio Martinez was born in Santo Domingo de Guzman, Dominican Republic, and he has a dual citizenship.
