Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Real Oviedo and Alcorcon face each other in a highly-anticipated game at Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere on day 16 of the new Segunda Division campaign. Los Azules made a slow start to the season, but they have been showing signs of improvement of late. Oviedo have been climbing the standings week by week, and it is no wonder bookies see them as favourites to win the midweek clash.
Alcorcon have been in a fine form of late as well, with the team recording three consecutive wins in the Spanish second tier. The visitors aim to move away from the danger zone, but beating Real Oviedo away from home is anything but easy. A close encounter is on the cards at Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere, and we believe that there is a big value in betting on the visiting team. Despite failing to convert a penalty in the 1-0 win over Girona, Marc Gual should keep his place up front in the Alcorcon starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Alejandro Arribas ):
Born in Madrid, Spain on May 1, 1989, Alejandro Arribas is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Oviedo in La Liga 2. Arribas is a very experienced defender as he played for Primera Division sides Rayo Vallecano, Osasuna, Deportivo La Coruna and Sevilla in the past.
He is a product of Rayo Majadahonda football school, but he did not see any game action with the club at senior level. Alejandro Arribas played for Mexican club UNAM before signing a three-year deal with Real Oviedo in the summer of 2019.
He made his debut with los Azules in a 2-1 loss to Fuenlabrada on August 31, 2019. The towering defender has never received a call-up for the Spain national football team. His main position is centre-back, but he can be used as a right-back as well if needed. The right-footed footballer has a contract with Real Oviedo until June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Alcorcon):
Founded on July 20, 1971, Alcorcon have been competing in Segunda Division since the 2010/11 season. Los Alfareros welcome their rivals at Santo Domingo, the stadium opened in 1999. The venue has the capacity of 5,100 people. Alcorcon have made it to the Segunda Division playoffs on several occasions, but they have never participated in La Liga.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del rey came in the 2009/10 season when they made it to the last 16 of the prestigious competition. Alcorcon suffered a 3-2 (on agg.) loss to Racing Santander in the round of 16. The club’s home colour is yellow, while their away kit is mainly blue.
Los Alfareros played their first official game on September 8, 1971, with the team losing 2-0 to Atletico Madrid youth team. The likes of Cordoba and Leganes are regarded as the club’s main rivals, while David Rodriguez is the club’s all-time top goalscorer.
