Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Oviedo will look to make amends for back-to-back losses to Racing Santander and Sporting Gijon when they welcome Cartagena to their Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere on Matchday 5. Los Azules have been struggling at the back of late, conceding six goals in total in the last two league matches, but Sunday’s game could be the turning point for the hosts. Summer signing Federico Vinas remains in the recovery room, but the good news for the hosts is that Santiago Colombatto has overcome his injury.
Los Albinegros, on the other hand, have already suffered three defeats in the new Segunda Division campaign and they face yet another difficult task against Oviedo. Even though Cartagena are undefeated in the previous four meetings with Oviedo in the Spanish second tier, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts as aforementioned ace Colombatto is back to contention.
Highlighted Team (Oviedo):
Based in Oviedo, Asturias, Real Oviedo is a Spanish club that plays home games at Carlos Tartiere. Carlos Tartiere is one of the biggest stadiums in Segunda division as it can hold up to 30,500 spectators. Los Azules competed in La Liga in the 1990s, but in the 2001/02 campaign they suffered relegation to Segunda Division.
Real Oviedo have not competed in the Spanish top flight ever since. In the 1991/92 season los Azules represented Spain in the UEFA Cup, but Genoa proved to be a big catch for them in the round of 64. Real Oviedo have a rivalry with Sporting Gijon, with the two teams facing each other in the Asturian derby.
