Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Buoyed by a 2-0 win over ten-man Espanyol, Leganes will be looking to overtake Mallorca in top position in the standings when they take on Ponferradina at Estadio El Toralin on Matchday 15. The capital club have been playing above expectations in the 2020/21 season, and, as a result, bookies now see them as one of the main favourites for automatic promotion to Primera Division.
Borja Baston, who scored his third goal of the season in the midweek clash, is likely to keep his place in the starting XI. La Ponfe, on the other hand, did well to hold Fuenlabrada to a 1-1 draw at Estadio Fernando Torres in their last league match. Even though Ponferradina have already recorded three wins at home this term, we are tempted to put our money on Leganes, who are enjoying a very successful season.
Highlighted Player (Roberto Rosales):
Born in Caracas, Venezuela on November 20, 1988, Roberto Rosales is a pacey full back who plays for Malaga in La Liga. Rosales started his career at the youth team of Deportivo Gulima and he played for his home-town club Caracas during his youth career as well.
After making two appearances in the league for Caracas, the Venezuela international joined Belgian side Gent in 2007 and he played for De Buffalo’s until 2010. Roberto Rosales scored five goals in 72 games for Gent in the Belgian top flight and in the summer of 2010 he signed a three-year deal with Eredivisie side Twente. He quickly established himself as a first-team regular at Twente and you should bear in mind that he played 118 games in the Dutch elite division for the club.
On July 9, 2014 Roberto Rosales moved to Spain, signing a three-year deal with Malaga and he has been playing for los Boquerones ever since. Speaking of his international career, he made his debut for Venezuela on March 28, 2007 in a 5-0 win over New Zealand.
Highlighted Team (Leganes):
Leganes are a Spanish football club that have mostly been playing in lower leagues. Los Pepineros play their home games at Batarque (Madrid) and the capacity of the stadium is just 8,138. Leganes secured their promotion to the Spanish La Liga for the first time ever in 2016 and, no doubt, that is considered the club’s biggest success.
Leganes’ bitterest rivals are fellow capital club Getafe and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the South Madrid derby.
The colour of the team’s home kit is white and blue, whilst their away kits are green. The likes of Pierre Webo, Samuel Eto’o, Ivan Zarandona, Jose Chamot, Catanha, Ruben Falcon, Jordi Lardin and Pedro Lago are famous players who were part of the Batarque outfit in the past. Lady Maria Victoria Pavon is the first female president in the history of the club and she has been in charge of the club since 2009.
