Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
A spot in La Liga will be at stake when Tenerife and Girona face each other at Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez on Sunday. Los Insulares did well to hold Girona to a goalless draw in Catalonia, and yet another close encounter is on the cards. Head coach Miguel Ramis is unlikely to make too many changes to the team that faced Girona in the first leg, but Elady could sneak into the starting XI.
The Catalans, on the other hand, failed to turn their dominance into victory in the first leg. Anyhow, yet another close encounter is on the cards, and we are tempted to put our money on draw. A man to keep an eye on in the away side will be veteran striker Stuani, who has netted 23 goals in the Segunda Division so far this season. Samuel Saiz is pushing for a start, speaking of the away side.
Highlighted Player (Victor Sanchez):
Victor Sanchez began his senior career at Barcelona, playing eight games for the Catalan giants in La Liga. He played for Barca B and Barca C in the past as well, but in 2011 he signed a two-year deal with Swiss side Neuchtatel Xamax. In the 2012 winter transfer window Sanchez returns to Spain, but this time out he joined Barca’s local rivals Espanyol.
The midfielder, who is capable of playing as a defender as well, signed a three-and-a-half year deal with los Periquitos and he has been playing for the club ever since. Victor Sanchez won the Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey trophies in the 2008/2009 season with Barcelona. He has yet to make his Spain debut, but he has three caps for Catalonia.
Victor Sanchez made seven appearances for Barcelona in the 2008/2009 campaign. Sanchez has a contract with Espanyol, which expires on 30 June, 2018. The midfielder was born on 8 September, 1987 in Terrasa.
Highlighted Team (Girona):
After several unsuccessful attempts, finally secured promotion to Primera Division at the end of the 2016/2017 season. The Catalan outfit finished the campaign in second place in the standings, 14 points behind Levante and only two clear of third-placed Getafe. Girona play their home games at Montilivi and the capacity of the venue is 9.286.
Speaking of the club history, Girona were founded in the café Norat in La Rambla of Girona on July 23, 1930 and they played their first official game against Colonia Artigas. A number of Spanish coaches were in charge of the team in the past, but it has to be noted that Uruguayan tactician Dagoberto Moll (1965/1966) and Karoly Plattko (1948/1949) of Hungary were in charge of the club as well.
The Catalan team wear white shirts with red stripes when playing at home, while the colour of their shorts is blue. The team’s away kits are blue and black and Sporting Gijon are considered one of Girona’s fiercest rivals.
