Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Villarreal B and Real Oviedo face each other at Ciudad Deportiva in what is expected to be one of the most interesting games of Wednesday’s program. The Yellow Submarine B played out a goalless draw with Albacete at the weekend, with the team dropping to 12th place in the standings. Villarreal B aim to return to winning ways as soon as possible, and their fine home record is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the midweek clash. With no fresh injury worries to report, boss Miguel Alvarez is unlikely to make changes to the team that faced El Queso Mecanico.
Los Azules, on the other hand, suffered yet another disappointing defeat in the 2022/2023 La Liga 2 campaign, with the team losing to Alaves in the Basque Country. Since Oviedo suffered three losses in the previous four league fixtures, we are tempted to put our money on the home side. As always, a man to watch in the away side will be experienced forward Borja Baston, who has netted five goals so far this term.
Highlighted Player (Sergi Enrich):
Sergi Enrich is a product of Mallorca’s youth academy. The 181-cm-tall striker was born in Ciutadella, Spain on 26 February, 1990 and he began his senior career at Mallorca. Enrich played 83 league games for Mallorca B, while making 6 appearances for the first team between 2010 and 2013.
During his spell at Mallorca he played for the likes of Recreativo and Alcorcon on loan and in 2013 he signed a two-year deal with Numancia. Sergi Enrich scored 26 goals in 76 league appearances for Numancia, but on 12 July, 2015 he joined Eibar to play in the Spanish top flight.
The Spanish attacker made 35 appearances for los Ameros in the 2015/2016 season, scoring seven goals in the process. Sergi Enrich’s market value was €4 million in July, 2016 and it has to be noted that his contract with Eibar expires on 30 June, 2018. His maternal family name is Ametller.
Highlighted Team (Oviedo):
Based in Oviedo, Asturias, Real Oviedo is a Spanish club that plays home games at Carlos Tartiere. Carlos Tartiere is one of the biggest stadiums in Segunda division as it can hold up to 30,500 spectators. Los Azules competed in La Liga in the 1990s, but in the 2001/02 campaign they suffered relegation to Segunda Division.
Real Oviedo have not competed in the Spanish top flight ever since. In the 1991/92 season los Azules represented Spain in the UEFA Cup, but Genoa proved to be a big catch for them in the round of 64. Real Oviedo have a rivalry with Sporting Gijon, with the two teams facing each other in the Asturian derby.
The likes of Robert Prosinecki, Stan Collymore, Dely Valdes, Abel Xavier, Paulo Bento, Marius Lacatus, Viktor Onopko, Ratomir Dujkovic, Juan Mata, Michu, Ibrahima Balde, and Slavisa Jokanovic are the famoust footballers who were part of Oviedo in the past. Carlos Munoz Cobo is leading the club’s all-time goal-scoring chart.
