Our prediction for this Serie B match:
Lecce will look to climb to top position in the Serie B standings when they host Spal to their Stadio Via del Mare on Matchday 34. The Giallorossi are eyeing their third consecutive league win, and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. A man to watch in the home team will be experienced attacker Massimo Coda, who got his name on the scoresheet in each of the previous two league fixtures.
All Raul Asencio, Lorenco Simic, and Gabriel remain in the recovery room, but there are no suspended players in the home team. Spal, on the other hand, are eight points clear of the relegation zone, meaning that they will almost certainly secure the Serie B survival. Given Lecce’s fine home record, we do not believe that the visitors are capable of grabbing something from Saturday’s clash. Both Franco Zuculini and David Heidenreich are injured for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Fabio Lucioni):
Fabio Lucioni is a product of Ternana football school. Lucioni played for the youth team of Ternana from 2002 to 2005 and he eventually made 14 appearances for the first team. The 185-cm-tall defender played for the likes of Monopoli, Noicattaro, Gela, Barletta, Spezia and Reggina in the past as well before joining Benevento in 2014.
Lucioni has established himself as a first-team regular at the club and it has to be noted that he scored three goals in 46 appearances for Benevento in the 2016/2017 Serie B campaign. The Stregoni secured promotion to the Serie A by beating Carpi in the play-offs final, meaning that Lucioni will have a chance to test a top-flight football in the 2017/2018 season.
Lucioni’s main position is centre-back and his contract with Benevento expires on June 30, 2018. The left-footed defender, who was born in Terni on September 25, 1987, has yet to earn a call-up for the Italian national football team.
Highlighted Team (SPAL):
SPAL impressed in the 2016/2017 Serie B campaign, with the team finishing the season in top position in the standings, four points clear of second-placed Hellas Verona.
The Biancazzurri returned to the Italian elite division following a 49-year absence and it has to be noted that they finished the 2016/2017 Serie A campaign in 14th place in the table. As a result, they were relegated to the Italian second tier at the end of the season.
The club was founded in 1907 as Circolo Ars et Labor and six years later was renamed as Societa Polisportiva Ars et Labor. After a bankruptcy the club was re-founded in 2005 and they have been competing as SPAl 1907 ever since.
SPAL welcome their rivals at Stadio Paolo Mazza, the venue which was opened in 1928. You should know that the capacity of the stadium is 12.438 Rovigo are regarded as Spal’s fiercest rivals and the two teams face each other in the Derby of Polesine.
