Our prediction for this Serie B match:
Buoyed by a 2-1 win over Ternana in the season opener, Sampdoria will look to record their first home win of the process when they welcome Pisa to their Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris on Friday. La Samp enjoyed a very successful preseason and they continue with fine performances in the new Serie B campaign. Fabio Borini is a major doubt, while all Fabio Depaoli, Nicola Murru, Mehdi Leris, and Leonardo Bendetti are out of contention with injuries.
Pisa, on the other hand, were not in action at the weekend as their season opener was postponed. Anyhow, home win should be considered as Sampdoria are seen as one of the main candidates for promotion. Summer signing Alessandro Arena is widely expected to make his Pisa debut against the Genovese. This will be the first meeting between the two clubs since March 1991 when Sampdoria outclassed Pisa 3-0 in the Serie A.
Highlighted Player (Fabio Borini):
Fabio Borini is an Italian football player who was born on 29 March, 1991. Borini plays as a striker, but he is capable of playing as a winger as well. The Italian footballer began his professional career at Chelsea, but he made no more than four appearances for the capital club.
On 9 July 2012 Fabio Borini completed a transfer to Liverpool, but he had a pretty disappointing start to his career at Anfield, scoring just two goals in 25 appearances for the club. The Italian striker spent the 2013/2014 season on loan at Sunderland and he scored seven goals in 32 appearances for the Stadium of Light outfit. As a result, he signed a permanent deal with the Black Cats in August 2015.
Speaking of his international career, Borini made his Italy debut on 26 February, 2012 in a friendly with USA. He made Italy Euro 2012 squad as well, but he did not come off the bench at the tournament finals.
