Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Fiorentina and Sampdoria face each other in a highly-anticipated Serie A game at Stadio Artemio Franchi. The Viola aim to bounce back from a heart-breaking loss to their local rivals Empoli, and they are surely capable of matching La Samp in front of home fans. Serbia rising start Dusan Vlahovic, who scored his 11th goal of the season in the Tuscan derby, will be the man to keep an eye on in the home team, whilst all Benassi, Dragowski, Nastasic, and Pulgar should miss out with injuries.
Roberto D’Aversa’s troops, on the other hand, came from behind to beat Verona 3-1 in their last league match. The bad news for the visitors, though, is that defender Alex Ferrari limped off with injury at the weekend. Since Sampdoria are not regarded as good travelers, we are tempted to put our money on Dusan Vlahovic and Co. this time out.
Highlighted Player (Erick Pulgar):
Eric Pulgar is a Chilean international who started his senior career at Deportes Antofagasta. Pulgar is a 186-cm-tall midfielder, who is capable of playing as a centre back as well and he is well known for his speed. After making 38 league appearances for the club he joined fellow Chilean outfit Universidad Catolica in 2014.
The deal was confirmed on 28 June, 2014 and the Chilean defender joined los Cruzados for a fee of $ 500 000. In 2015 he decided to move to Europe and he signed a contract with Bologna for an undisclosed fee. The deal was sealed on 20 August. Erick Pulgar represented Chile at the 2016 Copa America, but he made no more than one appearance for La Roja at the tournament in USA.
He came on as a substitute to replace injured midfielder Pablo Hernandez in a 2-0 win over Colombia. It is well known that Chile won the 2016 Copa America, beating star-studded Argentina in the title game.
Highlighted Team (Sampdoria):
Sampdoria is an Italian football club from Genoa which is currently playing in the highest Italian football division: the Serie A. The club colours of Sampdoria are blue and white and is known under the nickname Blucerchiati. Sampdoria host it’s home games in the Stadio Luigi Ferraris which is located in Genua. Interesting detail is that their biggest city rival Genoa is playing their home games in Stadio Luigi Ferraris as well.
In the past Sampdoria was playing in the Serie B and Serie A on and off. After the big successes in the end of the eighties the club became a stable team in the Serie A. Sampdoria managed to win the Scudetto once in 1991, the Coppa Italia 4 times in 1985, 1988, 1989 and 1994 and the Europe Cup II in 1990.
There are a lot of important players in football history that played for Sampdoria such as: Seedorf, Gullit, Mancini, Poli, Vieri, Zenga, Falcone, Karembeu, Vialli, Klinsmann and Veron.
