Our prediction for this Serie A match:
After holding Sassuolo to a 1-1 draw, Genoa will be looking to return to winning ways in the Serie A when they take on Spezia on Matchday 21. The Rossoblu have been showing signs of improvement ever since Andriy Shevchenko took over the reins, and, as a result, the odds for home win have been dropping. Stefano Sturaro is back from suspension, while both Serpe and Criscito have been tested positive for coronavirus.
The Bianconeri, on the other hand, failed to impress in a 2-1 loss to Verona, and seeing that Genoa have been in a fine form of late, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. Agudelo is banned for the visiting side, while all Manaj, Hristov, Nzola, and Kovalenko are sidelined through illness (COVID-19). In their last meeting at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris Genoa defeated Spezia 2-0.
Highlighted Player (Mattia Destro):
Mattia Destro started his youth career at Ascoli, but in 2005 he moved to Inter. The Italian attacker, though, made his debut in the Serie A with Genoa in the 2010/2011 season. He scored 2 goals in 16 appearances for the Rossoblu and at the end of the season he signed a deal with Siena. Destro netted 12 goals for Siena in 30 league appearances for the club and on 30 July, 2012 he joined fellow Serie A team Roma for a fee of €8.5 million.
The Italian footballer made his debut for the capital club on 2 September, 2012 in a 3-1 victory over Inter. Destro scored 24 goals for Roma between 2012 and 2015 and after ending his loan spell with Milan he joined Bologna on 20 August, 2015.
Speaking of his international career, the Bologna forward has 15 caps for Italy U21 and he made his debut for the senior team on 15 August, 2012 against England at Wembley Stadium. He made Italy’s 2014 provisional FIFA World Cup squad, but he eventually failed to make the final roster.
Highlighted Team (Spezia):
Spezia is a professional Italian club based in Spezia, Liguria. The Bianconeri secured promotion to the Serie A in the 2019/20 season, with the team beating Frosinone in the Serie B playoffs final. Spezia are well known for their black and white home jerseys, and black is the dominant colour of their away kit.
The club’s home ground Stadio Alberto Picco has the capacity of 10,336 people. The venue was opened back in 1919, with architect Gregotti being in charge of the project. In 2002 the club chiefs decided to reach an agreement with Inter which saw Spezia become Inter’s feeder club.
As a result, the likes of Goran Pandev, Aco Stojkov, and Alex Cordaz joined the Bianconeri in the first season. Spezia then suffered a bankruptcy, but in 2008 they were re-founded. In the 2020/21 season the Bianconeri will compete in the Italian elite division for the first time ever.
