Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Sassuolo play host to Cagliari at Mapei Stadium – Citta del Tricolore on day 13 of the new Serie A campaign. The Neroverdi aim to make amends for back-to-back losses to Empoli and Udinese, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at Cagliari. Both Djuricic and Boga are rated doubtful for the match, while Obiang remains in the treatment room. As always, a man to watch in the home team will be Domenico Berardi, who produced a fine display in Italy’s goalless draw with Northern Ireland on Monday.
The Sardinians, on the other hand, are stuck at the bottom of the table, with the team collecting only six points in total in the process. Since the rock-bottom side are on a four-game losing run in the Italian top flight, we are tempted to put our money on Sassuolo. All Ceter, Dalbert, Rog, and Walukiewicz are injured for the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Francesco Magnanelli):
Francesco Magnanelli is a Sassuolo midfielder, who was born on 12 November, 1984. His main position is defensive midfield, but he plays as a central midfielder as well. Magnanelli began his senior career at Gubbio and he played for the club in lower leagues from 2000 to 2002.
He was part of Chievo during the 2002/2003 season, but he did not see any game action during his spelt with the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi outfit. The Italian footballer joined Fiorentina in 2003 and he moved to Sangiovannesse one year later. After making seven league appearances for the club, Francesco Magnanelli made probably the best decision of his career when he signed a contract with Sassuolo in June 2015.
He has been playing for the Neroverdi on regular basis and he scored one goal in 34 appearances for the club in the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign. His contract with Sassuolo expires on 30 June, 2017.
Highlighted Team (Cagliari):
Cagliari are a professional football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia. I Rossoblu (The Red and Blues) compete in Italian Serie A and the club’s biggest success came in 1970, when they won the national championship.
Cagliari finished the season in top position in the standings, four points clear of Juventus and it has to be noted that Luigi Riva led Cagliari to their first Serie A trophy.
I Rossoblu welcome their rivals at Stadio Sant’Elia and the capacity of the stadium is 16,000. In the 1993/1994 season Cagliari made it to the UEFA Cup semis, with the team suffering a loss to fellow Italian club Inter in the two-legged tie.
Giuseppe Pancaro helped Cagliari record a 3-2 win over Inter in the first leg, but I Rossoblu were hammered by the Nerazzurri in the second leg (3-0). Palermo are regarded as Cagliari’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the Derby delle Isole.
