Our prediction for this World Cup 2026 match:
Estadio Couto Pereira will host Saturday’s World Cup qualifier between Brazil and Ecuador. The Selecao aim to make amends for the unsuccessful Copa America campaign and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at La Tricolor. Real Madrid trio Rodrygo – Vinicius Junior – Endrick made the cut, with Lucas Paqueta being included as well despite his alleged betting scandal.
The visitors, on the other hand, were producing fine displays at the 2024 Copa America, but Argentina eventually proved to be a big catch for them in the quarter-finals. New Ecuador boss Sebastian Beccacece has included Cristian Ramirez, Pervis Estupinan, Jhoanner Chavez, and Jhegson Martinez, who return to the squad. However, we are tempted to put our money on Brazil, who are a real force to be reckoned with at home. As always, Internacional attacker Enner Valencia will lead the line for the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Enner Valencia):
Enner Valencia is a prolific 26-year-old striker who plays for West Ham United in the English Premier League. Nicknamed “Superman”, Valencia started his career with Emelec in 2010. He enjoyed league success with Emelec and was awarded the “Copa Sudamericana Golden Boot” in 2013.
He also played for Pachuca in Mexico winning the Liga MX Golden Boot in 2014. His goal-scoring record and pace caught the attention of West Ham which bought him for an estimated £12 million in July 2014. At international level, Valencia made his debut in 2012 and has represented the country in 24 games so far. He is one of Ecuador’s top ten goal scorers of all time with 14 goals.
He has already represented Ecuador at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 Copa America tournaments. Enner Valencia is Ecuador’s joint top scorer – along with Agustin Delgado – in World Cup tournaments with three goals.
Highlighted Team (Brazil):
One of the most decorated teams in world football, Selecao have also been regarded as one of the most attractive and exciting teams with glowing reputation preceding them. Members of the CONMEBOL confederation, Brazil have played their first international in 1914 losing to bitter rivals Argentina with a comfortable 3-0 margin.
Brazil is the most successful nation in the FIFA World Cup with five championship title to their name. However, Selecao failed to advance past the quarter-finals of the last two tournaments last winning their World Cup in 2002. Their last title was the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and the star-studded team will be looking to get back to winning ways at this year’s historic Copa America Centenario in the United States.
Legendary Pele is Brazil’s top scorer with 77 goals to his name, while the team’s biggest star of the modern era Barcelona forward Neymar is sitting in fifth place having so far netted 46.
