Costa Rica play host to El Salvador at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in what is expected to be an interesting World Cup qualifiers. Los Ticos have been playing some low-scoring games in 2021, and you should know that under 2.5 goals have been netted in each of their last seven fixtures in all competitions. Costa Rica aim to put an end to their six-game winless run, and it seem as if they will not have a better chance than this to get back on course.
Veteran midfielder Bryan Ruiz should be recalled to the starting XI, while a man to watch in the home team will be goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who helped los Ticos grab one point from the Honduras game. El Salvador, on the other hand, defeated Panama thanks to Enrico Hernandez’s goal, but given their anything but good away record, we are tempted to put our money on Joel Campbell and Co.
Highlighted Player (Keylor Navas):
Keylor Navas is an exceptionally gifted goal keeper who plays for Spanish club Real Madrid and the Costa Rica national team. The 29-year-old rose through the youth ranks at Saprissa before making his professional bow with them in 2005.
After a successful stint with them, he ventured into Spanish football with a move to Albacete and then to Levante. His exploits at Levante earned him a move to Real Madrid where he quickly established as a first-team regular. Despite coming within seconds of moving away from the club to accommodate David de Gea, Navas became a crowd favorite with outstanding displays in 2015-16 season.
Navas has played over 60 games for Costa Rica having made his debut in 2008. He has represented them at the 2014 FIFA World Cup where Costa Rica were a losing quarter-finalists. Their progress in the tournament is largely attributed to the success of Navas under the sticks.

El Salvador are a national football team that play their home games at Estadio Cuscatlan. La Azul y Blanco turned down an invitation from Brazil to take part in the 1950 World Cup finals, but in 1970 they made it to the finals of the showpiece tournament in Mexico 20 years later.
They participated at the 1982 World Cup finals as well, but they have yet to advance the first round of the finals competition. El Salvador hosted the first CONCACAF Championship, but they failed to win the trophy, with the team suffering a loss to Costa Rica in the title game. Speaking of the Central American and Carribean Games, la Selecta won the trophy on two occasions (1954, 2002) and in 1968 they booked their place at the Olympic Games in Mexico.
