Our prediction for this Africa Cup of Nations 2024 match:
There will be fireworks when Senegal and Egypt face each other at Stade d’Olembe in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final. The Lions of Teranga aim to build on a 3-1 win over Burkina Faso, but Sunday’s showdown will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts. A man to watch in the home team will be Sadio Mane, who is enjoying a tournament to remember, and he is likely to prove a handful for the opposition back-line.
Aliou Cisse should have a full squad to choose from. You should know that Senegal are after their first Africa Cup of Nations trophy. The Pharaohs, on the other hand, have eliminated the likes of Ivory Coast, Morocco, and Cameroon on penalties to set up a meeting with Aliou Cisse’s troops in the AFCON 2021 final. The Egyptians are likely to adopt yet another defence-minded approach, meaning that under 2.5 goals betting option should be considered. Mohamed Salah will be the man to watch in the away side, while defender Omar Kamal is banned for the match, as well as head coach Carlos Queiroz.
Highlighted Player (Sadio Mané):
Sadio Mane is a Senegalese footballer who plays for Liverpool as a winger. Mane was born in Sedhiou Senegal on April 10, 1992, but he made his senior debut at French club Metz. In 2012 he moved to Red Bull Salzburg, with the pacey winger scoring 31 goals in 63 appearances for the club in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Mane then decided to take a step forward in his career as he joined famous Premier League club Liverpool for a fee of £34 million, signing a five-year contract with the Reds. The Senegal international quickly established himself as a first-team regular at Liverpool and, no doubt, he helped the Anfield outfit make it to the 2017/2018 Champions League final.
Speaking of trophies, Sadio Mane won the Austrian Bundesliga with Salzburg in the 2013/2014 season. In 2017 he was named Liverpool player of the year for the 2016/2017 season. Sadio Mane made his Senegal debut in 2012 and he was part of the Senegal team that participated at the 2012 Olympic tournament.
Highlighted Team (Egypt):
Egypt are an African football team that plays their home games at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria. Over the years Egypt have established themselves as the most successful national team in Africa and you should bear in mind that they won their seventh African Cup of Nations trophy in 2010.
The Pharaohs participated at the World Cup finals on two occasions (1934 and 1990) and they failed to make it to the knockout stages of the showpiece tournament. Egypt suffered a 4-2 loss to Hungary on their World Cup debut and it has to be noted that the African team scored no more than one goal at the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
Ahmed Hassan is the player with the most caps for the Egyptian national team (184), while Hossam Hassan is the team’s top scorer (68). The colour of Egypt’s home kit is red and white and the Pharaohs play their away games in white shits and black shorts.
