Our prediction for this Africa Cup of Nations 2024 match:
Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium will host Wednesday’s Africa Cup of Nations game between Tanzania and D.R. Congo, the two teams who are eyeing a top-two finish in Group F. Tanzania kicked off their AFCON campaign with a 3-0 loss to Morocco, with the team sharing the spoils with Zambia in their second group game. Novatus Miroshi is back from suspension, while there are no fresh injury worries in Hemed Morocco’s team.
The Leopards, on the other hand, head into the match following back-to-back draws with Zambia and Morocco. D.R. Congo are on a five-game winless run in all competitions, but a triumph over Tanzania could see them booked their place in the Africa Cup of Nations knockout stages. D.R. Congo are more of a team than Tanzania and given their fine display in a 1-1 draw with Hakim Ziyech and Co, away triumph should be considered. Charles Pickel limped off with injury in the second group game, with Aaron Tschibola likely to replace him in the starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Cedric Bakambu):
Cedric Bakambu is considered one of the best African strikers. He was a French youth international and he played for les Tricolores at the 2010 UEFA U19 European Championship. France defeated Spain in the final of the tournament and that is regarded as Bakambu’s biggest success, speaking of his international career.
However, despite playing for France youth teams, Cedric Bakambu decided to represent DR Congo at senior level and he made his debut for the Congolese national team against Cameroon. He scored his first goal for DR Congo in a 2-1 win over Angola on 26 March, 2016. Speaking of his club career, the pacey attacker played for Sochaux from 2010 to 2014 and on 1 September, 2014 he moved to Bursaspor.
After scoring 13 goals in 27 league appearances for the Turkish outfit, Bakambu signed a five-year deal with La Liga side Villarreal on 19 August, 2015 and he has been playing for the Yellow Submarine ever since. The Congolese striker made his Villarreal debut on 23 August, 21015 in a 1-1 draw with Real Betis.
Highlighted Team (Tanzania):
Affiliated to the Confederation of African Football, Tanzania national football team play their home games at National Stadium in Dar es Salam. Tanzania have yet to qualify for the FIFA World Cup finals, but they will have a chance to prove their worth at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Taifa Stars take on Senegal at 30 June Air Defence Stadium on their debut at the African Nations Cup and they will face the likes of Algeria and Kenya in the group stages as well. Tanzania play their home games in white shirts and white shirts, whilst their away colours are white and black.
The Taifa Stars played their first ever international game against Tanganyka, with the team beating the minnows 7-0 back in 1945. The Tanzania national football team recorded their biggest win against Somalia on December 1, 1995, whilst they suffered their biggest defeat in 1956 against Kenya (0-9).
