Our prediction for this Belgium Pro League match:
After sharing the spoils with St. Truiden in their opener, Royale Union will look to record their first win of the season when they take on Charleroi on Friday evening. The vice-champions have turned their Stade Joseph Marien into a real fortress, but they will have to prove their worth on the field. Since top scorer Deniz Undav left the club in the summer transfer window, a man to watch in the home team will be Dante Vanzeir, who scored 14 goals in the national championship last term.
Defender Ismael Kandouss is a major doubt after limping off with injury at the weekend, with Ross Sykes being ready to step up. The Black and Whites, on the other hand, kicked off the new domestic campaign with a 3-1 win over Eupen, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Friday’s clash. Charleroi are not regarded as good travellers, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the hosts. Both Jules Van Cleemput and Mehdi Boukamir are rated doubtful, speaking of the away side.
