Veltins Arena will be the centre of attention when Schalke 04 and Hertha Berlin go head to head in the opening match of the new 2. Bundesliga campaign. Die Knappen finished the last 2. Bundesliga season in 14th place in the standings and, no doubt, they want to make amends for the unsuccessful campaign. The likes of Bachmann, Bayindir, and Kalas remain in the recovery room, while summer signing Soufiane El-Faouzi is widely expected to make his official Schalke debut against Hertha.
The capital club, on the other hand, are eager to make a flying start to the new domestic campaign, but beating Schalke 04 on the road is easier said than done. A close encounter is on the cards in Gelsenkirchen and we predict that the two old rivals are going to share the spoils at Veltins Arena.
