Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
Mewa Arena will host a postponed Bundesliga game between Mainz and Union Berlin, the two relegation-threatened teams. Die Nullfunfer are desperate to record their second win of the season, but given their anything but good displays in back-to-back losses to Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen, home win should not be considered. Midfielder Jae-Sung Lee is still on international duty, while both Brajan Gruda and Nelson Weiper are out of contention through injuries.
The capital club, on the other hand, failed to spoil Leipzig’s party at Red Bull Arena, but they are surely capable of matching Mainz in Wednesday’s relegation six-pointer. Anyhow, both teams to score betting option should be considered as both sides are eager to get back on course in the national championship. Union Berlin defender Christopher Trimmel is banned for the visiting side, while Aissa Laidouni is back from international duty.
Highlighted Player (Dominik Kohr):
Dominik Kohr is a product of Bayer Leverkusen’s youth school. The German midfielder was born in Tier on 31 January, 1994 and he made eight appearances for the Bundesliga side at senior level. He spent the 2014/2015 season on loan at Augsburg, playing 34 games for the club in the German elite division and his loan was made permanent at the end of the season (18 June, 2015).
He scored his first goal for the club from the penalty spot in a 1-0 win over Wolfsburg. Kohr has four caps for Germany U20 and he played for the U18 and the U19 teams in the past as well. Dominik Kohr is a central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder and a centre back as well.
He has a contract with Augsburg which expires on 30 June, 2019. Kohr played 26 games for Augsburg in the 2015/2016 Bundesliga campaign.
Highlighted Team (Union Berlin):
Union Berlin are a German football club originally founded back in 1906. Die Eisernen play home games at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei which can hold up to 22,012 spectators. Union Berlin’s home kit is red, with the team wearing white shirts and white shorts on the travels.
Union Berlin finished the 1923 domestic campaign as runners-up, with the team suffering a 3-0 loss to Hamburger SV in the title game. Speaking of the club’s biggest success in the German Cup, die Eisernen made it to the final of the competition in the 2000/2001 season. Schalke, though, proved to be a big catch for Union Berlin in the decider, with Jorg Bohme scoring a brace for die Knappen (2-0).
Union Berlin will face their local rivals Hertha in the 2019/2020 Bundesliga season as they secured promotion to the German top flight, but Hansa Rostock are considered the club’s main rivals.
