Our prediction for this Championship match:
Birmingham City and Norwich City square off against each other at St. Andrew’s Stadium on the last day of the regular season. The Blues face a must-win situation in the decider as they are one point behind the safe zone and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at the Canaries. Midfielder Alfie Chang misses out with an ACL injury, but he should be the only absentee in the home team.
Norwich City, on the other hand, almost certainly booked their spot in the Championship playoffs thanks to a 2-2 draw with Swansea City. As Birmingham City want this win more than Norwich City, we don’t believe that the visitors are capable of grabbing something from Saturday’s clash. The likes of Liam Gibbs, Dimitris Giannoulis, and Onel Hernandez are out of contention with injuries for the visiting team, while experienced forward Ashley Barnes should be recalled to the starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Grant Hanley):
Grant Hanley is Scottish footballer who plays for Norwich City as defender. Hanley was born in Dumfries, Scotland, on November 20, 1991 and he started his youth career at Queen of the South. After ending his spells with Crewe Alexandra and Rangers, the Scottish player joined English club Blackburn Rovers, where he started his senior career.
After scoring eight goals in 183 appearances for the Riversiders in league matches, he moved to fellow English club Newcastle United in July, 2016 for an undisclosed fee. Grant Hanley, though, made no more than 10 appearances for Newcastle United in the Championship before joining Norwich City. The 191-cm-tall defender made his full international debut for Scotland against Wales on in May, 2011.
He scored his first goal for the Scotland national football team in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Wales. His contract with Norwich City should expire on June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Birmingham City):
Birmingham City are a club located in the city of Birmingham, England. Birmingham City were founded in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, but the club’s named was changed to Small Heath in 1888. 17 years later they became Birmingham and in 1943 they finally changed their name to Birmingham City.
The Blues welcome their rivals at St. Andrew’s, the stadium that was opened in 1906. Birmingham City compete in the Championship and their fiercest rivals are WBA and Aston Villa. The Blues made it to the FA Cup final twice, but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy. In 1931 they were beaten by their local rivals WBA in the title game (1-2), whilst in 1956 they were outplayed by Manchester City in the title game.
The colour of Birmingham’s home kit is blue with white stripe. Trevor Francis, Gil Merrick, Bob Latchford, Jeff Hall, Alex Govan, Joe Bradford and Christophe Dugarry are notable footballers who played for the St. Andrew’s outfit in the past.
