Our prediction for this Championship match:
Cardiff City will look to escape the danger zone when they take on Bristol City in the Championship round 35. The Bluebirds failed to spoil Norwich City’s party at Carrow Road, but it is well known that they produce much better showings at home than on the travels. Both Ebou Adams and Jamilu Collins are sidelined with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the home team.
The Robins, on the other hand, aim to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over Hull City, but seeing that the hosts want this win more than the visitors, we are going to bet on Sabri Lamouchi’s troops. All Rob Atkinson, Kal Naismith, Kane Wilson, Tommy Conway, and Ayman Benarous should miss out with injuries, while Bermuda forward Nakhi Wells is pushing for a start after finding the net in each of the previous two league fixtures.
Highlighted Player (Callum Robinson):
Born in Northampton, Callum Robinson started his career at Aston Villa. Having gone through the youth ranks with the Villans, Robinson was given his first-team debut in 2013. As a product of the Aston Villa academy, Robinson unfortunately never got a chance to prove his worth at the club and ended up playing no less than 4 league appearances during his three-year stay at Villa Park.
Various loan spells – at Preston North End on two occasions and Bristol City – brought mixed fortunes for the striker up until 2016 when he sealed a permanent move with the Lillywhites. Robinson represented England at U16, U17, U19 and U20 levels but raised plenty of eyebrows when he declared for the Republic of Ireland in March 2018 through his late grandmother who was from Monaghan.
The striker made his senior team breakthrough in Republic of Ireland’s 2-2 draw with Celtic in Scott Brown’s testimonial match and will be hoping to prove doubters wrong and prove his motive is bigger than career opportunism.
Highlighted Team (Bristol City):
Bristol City are one of the two famous clubs from the city of Bristol. Formed in 1894 the Robins mostly participated in English lower leagues and they have never played in the Premier League. Bristol City’s bitterest rivals are Bristol Rovers and it has to be noted that two teams first met in 1897. Bristol City have outplayed their local rivals on 43 occasions in the Bristol Derby.
Cardiff City are regarded as Bristol City’s bitter rivals as well. The Robins play their home games at Ashton Gate, the stadium that was opened in 1887. Bristol City were semi-finalists of the League Cup two times (1970/1971, 1988/1989), with the team making it to the FA Cup final in 1909.
The Robins faced Manchester United in the title game, but they failed to upset the English giants in the Crystal Palace clash. It is well known that Bristol City footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts.
