Our prediction for this Championship match:
Cardiff City play host to Leeds United at their Cardiff City Stadium on day 27 of the new Championship campaign. The Bluebirds experienced all sorts of problems at the back in the FA Cup loss (0-4) to Sheffield Wednesday and they face yet another uphill task against the promotion hopefuls. Bear in mind, though, that both Wintle and Robinson failed to convert penalties in the Hillsborough defeat. Midfielder Ebou Adams is on international duty with Gambia, while both Aaron Ramsey and Callum ODowda miss out with injuries.
The Whites, on the other hand, rolled over Peterborough United 3-0 in the FA Cup last 64 and given Cardiff City’s shaky defence, we predict that Daniel Farke’s men are going to pick up all three points from Saturday’s clash as well. Goalkeeper Illan Meslier is banned for the match, while all Luke Ayling, Pascal Struijk, Jamie Shackleton, and Stuart Dallas are sidelined with injuries, speaking of the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Patrick Bamford):
Known for his technical ability and versatility, Patrick Bamford is an English professional footballer who plays for Leeds United in the Championship. The 6ft tall forward who was born in Grantham, Lincolnshire, is a Nottingham Forest youth product and signed his first professional with the club in 2011. He made his professional debut, playing for the Reds in a 0-1 home defeat to Cardiff on the 31st of December, 2011.
Bamford's career then took him to Premier League giants Chelsea with whom he signed a five year deal worth 1.5 million pounds on the 31st of January, 2012. His time at the Blues included loan spells at clubs like Milton Keynes Dons, Derby County, Middlesborough, Crystal Palace, Norwich, and Burnley. He scored his first professional goal while playing for Milton against Crewe Alexandra on the 19th of March, 2013. In January 2017, Bamford permanently left Chelsea to reunite with Middlesborough on a four-and-a-half-year deal. In his second spell, Bamford made 47 appearances for the club and scored 12 goals.
The Striker followed up by joining Championship side Leeds United for the 18/19 season and is currently on a four-and-a-half-year contract with the club. Born on the 5th of September, 1993, the 26-year-old initially featured for the Republic of Ireland under-18 team before switching to represent England for whom he's gone on to serve at the under-18, under-19, and the under-21 level.
Highlighted Team (Cardiff):
Cardiff City are a Welsh football club that compete in the English second tier (Championship). In 2009 they moved from Ninian Park to Cardiff City Stadium, the venue that officially holds 33,280 spectators.
The Bluebirds played their first ever Premier League match on 18 August, 2013, but they were beaten by West Ham United (0-2) on their debut in the English top flight. However, a week later Fraizer Campbell (two goals) and Aron Gunnarson helped Cardiff City record their first ever win in the Premier League.
The Bluebirds outplayed Manchester City back then, but they eventually dropped to the Championship at the end of the season. Fellow Welsh outfit Swansea City are considered Cardiff’s fiercest rivals and the two teams take on each other in the South Wales derby.
The colour of Cardiff City’s home kit is blue, whilst they wear red shirts and shorts when playing on the travels.
