Our prediction for this Championship match:
Coventry City play host to Preston at their Coventry Building Society Arena on day 35 of the current Championship campaign. The Sky Blues aim to build on back-to-back wins over Barnsley and Bristol City, and they want to give fans yet another reason for celebration. Sweden international Viktor Gyokeres, who scored his 12th goal of the season in the midweek triumph, will be the man to watch in the home side.
All Matt Godden, Liam Kelly, and Josh Eccles are out of contention with injuries. The Lilywhites, on the other hand, are seven points behind the playoffs berth. Preston failed to turn their dominance into victory in a goalless draw with Forest, and, no doubt, they want to return to winning ways as soon as possible. Since both sides are likely to go for a win in Saturday’s clash, both teams to score betting option should be considered. All Sean Maguire, Tom Barkhuizen, Greg Cunningham, Joshua Murphy, Connor Wickham, and Isaiah Brown miss out with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Simon Moore):
Simon Moore is an English goalkeeper who plays for Sheffield United in the Championship. Moore began his career at Brading Town and, after playing 49 games in the league for the club, he moved to Farnborough in 2008. However, due to the lack of first-team football, Simon Moore left the club at the end of the season, with the 191-cm-tall shoot-stopper signing a contract with Brentford.
The English goalkeeper, who was born in Sandown on May 19, 1990, made his debut for the Bees in May, 2010 against Hartlepool United, coming as a substitute for first-choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. After ending his loan spell with Basingstoke Town in January 2011, he moved to Cardiff City and it has to be noted that he made 17 appearances for the Welsh outfit.
In the summer of 2016 he signed a deal with Sheffield United for a fee of around £500,000 and he did remarkably well to keep 17 clean sheets in the 2016/2017 League One campaign. The Blades finished the season in top position in the standings and, no doubt, Simon Moore’s brilliant saves helped the club secure promotion to the English second tier.
Highlighted Team (Preston):
Preston North End or Preston were founded in 1880. The Lilywhites or the Invincibles play their home games at Deepdale, the stadium that was built in 1875 and opened three years later.
In 1889 Preston won their first FA Cup trophy and they did well to beat Huddersfield Town in the final of the 1938 FA Cup final. However, the club’s biggest success came in 1889 and 1890 when they won back-to-back domestic trophies (First Division).
Preston have yet to win the League Cup title, but they were runners-up in 1888, 1922, 1937, 1954, 1964. Preston’s main rivals are Blackpool and the two teams square off against each other in the West Lancashire derby. In their first ever meeting in the West Lancashire derby (1901) Preston recorded a 4-1 win over Blackpool.
Burnley and Blackburn Rovers are considered Preston’s big rivals as well. The colour of Preston’s shirts is white and they wear dark blue shorts.
