Our prediction for this Championship match:
Coventry and Preston go head to head at Coventry Building Society Arena in what is expected to be an interesting Championship game. The Sky Blues defeated Stoke City thanks to Ellis Simms’ goal at the weekend, with the team remaining in the playoffs race, but they need to keep on making progress if they are to secure a top-six finish. As Victor Torp sustained a calf injury against the Potters, Liam Kelly is likely to return to the starting XI. Tatsuhiro Sakamoto is pushing for a start as well.
The Lilywhites, on the other hand, are undefeated in the previous five league matches. Preston aim to move closer to the playoffs berth as well, but given Coventry’s fine home record, we do not believe that the visitors are capable of grabbing something from Friday’s encounter. All Brad Potts, Duane Holmes, and Kian Best are injured for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Alan Browne):
Alan Browne is a Republic of Ireland international who plays for Preston North End as a central midfielder. Born in Cork on April 15, 1999, Browne began his youth career at Ringmahon Rangers, but he soon moved to his hometown club Cork City.
Despite being part of the Cork City senior team, he did not enjoy first-team football with the Rebel Army. On January 1, 2014 Alan Browne signed a deal with Preston North End in the League One and one year later he helped the Lilywhites beat Preston in the play-off final and secure promotion to the Championship.
The 179-cm-tall midfielder has established himself as a first-team regular at Preston and it has to be noted that he played for the Ireland national team in the past as well. Alan Browne made his Republic of Ireland debut on February 6, 2017 in a friendly game against Mexico.
Highlighted Team (Coventry):
Nicknamed the Sky Blues, Coventry City are an English football club that compete in the League One. Coventry City, who were founded on August 13, 1883 as Singers FC, wear sky blue kit when playing on home soil, whilst their away colour is white.
Aston Villa and Leicester City are considered the club’s main rivals, but they have rivalry with fellow West Midlands clubs Wallsall and Burton Albion as well. Coventry City have yet to win the Premier League trophy, but they did well to go all the way in the FA Cup in the 1986/1987 season, with the team beat Charlton Athletic in the two-legged final. They share stadium with Birmingham City, with both clubs playing their home games at St. Andrew’s Stadium.
Built in December, 1906, St. Andrew’s Stadium can hold up to 29,409 spectators. Dion Dublin is one of the most famous Coventry City players, with the legendary centre-forward scoring 61 goals in 145 appearances for the club in the league.
