Our prediction for this Championship match:
Huddersfield Town and Sunderland go head to head at John Smith’s Stadium on day 19 of the new Championship campaign. The Terriers desperately needed a win against Millwall, and they managed to get one thanks to Yuta Nakayama’s goal, with the team putting an end to their three-match winless run. Even though all Hogg, Jones, Pearson, and Simpson continue to miss out with injuries, we are positive that the hosts will grab something from the midweek clash.
The Black Cats, on the other hand, have been slipping down the standings week by week, with the team collecting only one point in total from the last three league matches. Since Huddersfield want this win more than Sunderland, we predict that the visitors are going to return home empty-handed. All Aji Alese, Lynden Gooch, Niall Huggins, Ross Stewart, and Daniel Ballard are out of contention through injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Danny Ward):
Daniel Ward is a goalkeeper who was born on 22 June, 1993 in Wrexham, Wales. The 191-cm-tall shoot-stopper is a product of Wrexham Academy, but he did not make his senior debut for the club. After spending the 2010/2011 season at Tamworth, Danny Ward returned to Wrexham and on 30 January, 2012 he joined Liverpool for a fee of £100,000.
He made just two league appearances for the Anfield outfit and in 2015 he signed a loan deal with Morecambe. On 23 June he signed a new five-year deal with Liverpool, but he was soon sent on loan to Aberdeen. He played 21 games for the Scottish outfit and on 11 July, 2016 he signed a season-long deal with Championship team Huddersfield Town.
Danny Ward has 4 caps for Wales U21 team and he made his senior debut for the Dragons in a friendly against Northern Ireland on 24 March, 2016. Ward represented his homeland at the 2016 European Championship finals in France as he started the game against Slovakia.
Highlighted Team (Sunderland):
Sunderland are a professional football club that have been playing their home games at the Stadium of Light since 1997. The capacity of the stadium is 49,000, but before expansion the original ground capacity was 42,000. Red and White shirts are Sunderland’s trademark and the club’s fiercest rivals are Newcastle United. The two local rivals have been contesting in the Tyne-Wear derby since 1898 and there have always been fireworks in what is one of the greatest derbies in English football. Sunderland were on the verge of dropping to the Championship in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign, but experienced tactician Sam Allardyce eventually helped the team avoid relegation.
The Black Cats have won six First Division trophies (now the Premier League), with the team lifting two FA Cup titles. Sunderland won their first FA Cup trophy in 1937, with the team beating Preston North End 3-1 in the title game. The club was founded in 1879 as Sunderland and District Teachers A.F.C.
