Our prediction for this Championship match:
Millwall will be aiming to get their revenge on Blackburn Rovers for a 2-1 loss at Ewood Park when the two teams face each other at the Den on Matchday 35. The Lions head into the match following a 2-1 win over Preston, which gave them a confidence boost. Millwall, though, have recorded no more than four wins at home ground this season. The Riversiders, on the other hand, aim to put an end to their seven-match winless run in the English second tier.
Blackburn Rovers are desperate to give fans something to cheer about, and seeing that the Lions have already drawn ten games on home soil this term, we are tempted to put our money on draw. All Kieftenbeld, Leonard, Mahoney, and Wallace are sidelined with injuries for the home team, while Ayala, Davenport, Gallagher, Holtby, Johnson, Wharton, and Williams are unlikely to feature for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Jiri Skalak ):
After starting his professional career at Sparta Prague, Jiri Skalak played for the likes of Ruzemberok, Slovacko, Zbrojovka Brno and Mlada Boleslav on loan. In the summer of 2015 the Czech player signed a permanent deal with Mlada Boleslav where he established himself as a first-team regular.
However, the pacey winger did spend too much time at the Czech club as he joined English side Brighton in the winter of 2016. Jiri Skalak signed for the Seagulls for an undisclosed fee and it has to be noted that he score his first goal for the club in a 4-0 win over QPR on April 19, 2016. After spending two seasons at the Falmer Stadium, Jiri Skalak moved to fellow English club Millwall on August 2, 2018.
Born in Pardubice (Czechoslovakia) on March 12, 1992, Skalak represents Czech Republic on the international stage. The Millwall winger has 21 caps for the Czech Republic U21 team and he received his first call-up for the senior team on August 25, 2015 for the Euro 2016 qualifying matches against Latvia and Kazakhstan.
Highlighted Team (Blackburn Rovers):
Blackburn Rovers have been trying to return to the Premier League ever since they dropped to the Championship in 2012. The Riversiders compete in the English second tier and they play their home games at Ewood Park. Blackburn were founded back in 1875 and they are one of the founding members of the Football League (1888).
Burnley are considered Blackburn’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the East Lancashire derby. It has to be noted that Blackburn Burnley 7-1 in their first ever meeting in the East Lancashire Derby on 3 November, 1888. The Riversiders have won three First Division (Premier League) trophies (1911/1912, 1913/1914, 1994/1995).
Blackburn Rovers have clinched six FA Cup titles as well. Speaking of the club’s European success, the Riversiders won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2007. The colour of Blackburn’s home kit is blue and white.
