Our prediction for this Championship match:
Millwall play host to Oxford United at the Den on day 25 of the new Championship campaign. The Lions have been having their ups and downs of late, beating Blackburn, losing to Norwich, while sharing the spoils with Coventry and, no doubt, they are eager to return to winning ways as soon as possible. Defenders Jake Cooper and Calum Scanlon should be the only absentees in the home team.
The Yellows, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Cardiff City and Plymouth. Oxford United are a real force to be reckoned with at home, but given their poor away record in the 2024/2025 Championship campaign, home win should definitely be considered. Bearing any fresh injury worries, Gary Rowett is unlikely to make changes to the team that outplayed Wayne Rooney’s troops at the weekend. Both Joe Bennett and Benjamin Nelson continue to miss out with injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Team (Millwall):
Based in Bermonsdey, South East London, Millwall are a football club whose supporters have often been associated with hooliganism. West Ham United are considered the club’s biggest rivals and there have always been fireworks in clashes between the two teams.
The Lions share rivalry with Charlton as well and the two teams first met back in 1921. The Den is Milwall’s home ground at the capacity of the stadium, which was opened in 1993, is 20.146.
The capital club did well to make it to the 2003/2004 FA Cup final, but Premier League giants Manchester United proved to be a big catch for the Lions. The Red Devils won the game 3-0, but despite suffering the heavy loss in the title game, Milwall booked their place in the UEFA Cup. However, Ferencvaros of Hungary proved to be a big catch for the English outfit in the two-legged tie.
Australia international Tim Cahill is considered one of the most notable footballers who whore Millwall shirt (1998-2004).
