Our prediction for this Championship match:
Norwich City will be aiming to put icing on the cake on a very successful season when they host Reading at their Carrow Road in the Championship round 45. The Canaries are determined to finish the season in top position, and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at the Royals. Defender Dimitris Giannoulis is serving the last of his three-match ban, while Byram, Gibson, Idah, McGovern, Rupp, and Zimmermann are all likely to miss the match with injuries. As always, a man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Teemu Pukki, who has netted 25 goals so far this season.
The Royals, on the other hand, shared the spoils with Cardiff City, Luton Town, and Swansea City in the previous three league fixtures, and, as a result, they failed to secure their place in the playoffs. Since Veljko Paunovic’s men are low on spirits ahead of the trip to Norfolk, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the league leaders.
Highlighted Player (Grant Hanley):
Grant Hanley is Scottish footballer who plays for Norwich City as defender. Hanley was born in Dumfries, Scotland, on November 20, 1991 and he started his youth career at Queen of the South. After ending his spells with Crewe Alexandra and Rangers, the Scottish player joined English club Blackburn Rovers, where he started his senior career.
After scoring eight goals in 183 appearances for the Riversiders in league matches, he moved to fellow English club Newcastle United in July, 2016 for an undisclosed fee. Grant Hanley, though, made no more than 10 appearances for Newcastle United in the Championship before joining Norwich City. The 191-cm-tall defender made his full international debut for Scotland against Wales on in May, 2011.
He scored his first goal for the Scotland national football team in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Wales. His contract with Norwich City should expire on June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Reading):
Reading FC is a professional football club that play in the Championship. The club was formed in 1871 and Madejski Stadium has been the home of Reading since 1998. The Royals used to play their home games at Elm Park in the past (1896 - 1998). Reading made it to the FA Cup semi-finals on two occasions (1927, 2015), but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy.
The likes of Robin Friday, Trevor Senior, Steve Death, Shaka Hislop, Phil Parkinson, Alf Messer, Jimmy Quinn, Michael Gilkes, Ronnie Blackman, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Martin Hicks are some of their more notable footballers. Aldershot Town were considered Reading’s fiercest rivals, but the Shots went out of business in 1992.
Seeing that Aldershot rejoined the league in 2008 it remains to be seen if the rivalry is going to be re-established in near future. Swindon Town and Oxford United are considered Reading’s big rivals as well.
