Our prediction for this Championship match:
Preston welcome Bristol City to their Deepdale on day 30 of the 2022/2023 Championship campaign. The Lilywhites are three points behind the playoffs berth, meaning that Saturday’s clash is of big importance for the home side. With no fresh injury worries to report, manager Ryan Lowe is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated Birmingham City at St. Andrew’s Stadium, but all Ben Whiteman, Brad Potts, and Emir Riis Jakobsen continue to miss out through injuries.
The Robins, on the other hand, are undefeated in the previous four league fixtures, but seeing that Preston are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we do not believe that Nigel Pearson’s troops are capable of grabbing something from the match. All Tommy Conway, Andreas Weimann, and Ayman Benarous remain in the recovery room, while January signings Anis Mehmeti and Harry Cornick could make their Bristol City debuts against Preston.
Highlighted Player (Greg Cunningham):
Greg Cunningham is a product of Manchester City football academy. Irish footballer, who was born on January 31, 1991 in Galway, though, made no more than two appearances for Manchester City in the Premier League. After ending his loan spells with Leicester City and Nottingham Forest the defender moved to Bristol City in 2012 and he played for the Robins from 2012 to 2015.
Creg Cunningham did well to win the Football League Trophy with Bristol City in the 2014/2015 season, but at the end of the season he moved to Preston North End. The Irish footballer has established himself as a first-team regular at Preston and it has to be noted that he was appointed captain of the team on July 24, 2017.
Speaking of his international career, Greg Cunningham made his debut for Republic of Ireland on May 28, 2010 in a 3-0 win over Algeria. His main position is left-back, but he is capable of playing as a centre-back if needed as well.
Highlighted Team (Bristol City):
Bristol City are one of the two famous clubs from the city of Bristol. Formed in 1894 the Robins mostly participated in English lower leagues and they have never played in the Premier League. Bristol City’s bitterest rivals are Bristol Rovers and it has to be noted that two teams first met in 1897. Bristol City have outplayed their local rivals on 43 occasions in the Bristol Derby.
Cardiff City are regarded as Bristol City’s bitter rivals as well. The Robins play their home games at Ashton Gate, the stadium that was opened in 1887. Bristol City were semi-finalists of the League Cup two times (1970/1971, 1988/1989), with the team making it to the FA Cup final in 1909.
The Robins faced Manchester United in the title game, but they failed to upset the English giants in the Crystal Palace clash. It is well known that Bristol City footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts.
