Our prediction for this Championship match:
Rotherham United will be looking to build on back-to-back wins over Derby and Preston when they take on Cardiff City in the Championship round 23. The Millers quickly bounced back from a 3-1 loss to Swansea City, with the team escaping the relegation zone, but they need to keep on winning if they are to avoid the drop to the Championship. The Bluebirds, on the other hand, did well to beat Bristol City on the road in their last league match, with the team climbing to 14th position in the standings.
Cardiff City aim to keep their playoffs hopes alive, but given Rotherham United’s current form, we predict that the visitors are going to return to Wales empty-handed. Both Crooks and Michael Smith are pushing for a start, while Ben Wiles returns to contention for the hosts. As for the visitors, Dillon Phillips is going to replace injured first-choice goalkeeper Alex Smithies.
Highlighted Player (Billy Jones):
Billy Jones is a professional footballer who plies his trade at Sunderland. He was born on 24 March, 1987 and started his senior career at Crewe Alexandra in 2003. In 2007 the defender moved to Preston North End and after spending four years at Deepdale, he then joined Premier League side West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer in 2011.
Jones made 17 appearances for the Baggies in his debut elite-division season and he scored his first goal for the Hawthorns outfit on 20 April 2013 in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle. On 28 May, 2014 Billy Jones signed a contract with Sunderland and it has to be noted that he made 14 appearances for the Black Cats in the 2014/2015 Premier League campaign.
He spent more minutes on the field in the 2015/2016 season (21/1) and he played a role in helping Sam Allardyce’s team secure the Premier League survival. Billy Jones made his England U20 debut in 2005.
Highlighted Team (Cardiff):
Cardiff City are a Welsh football club that compete in the English second tier (Championship). In 2009 they moved from Ninian Park to Cardiff City Stadium, the venue that officially holds 33,280 spectators.
The Bluebirds played their first ever Premier League match on 18 August, 2013, but they were beaten by West Ham United (0-2) on their debut in the English top flight. However, a week later Fraizer Campbell (two goals) and Aron Gunnarson helped Cardiff City record their first ever win in the Premier League.
The Bluebirds outplayed Manchester City back then, but they eventually dropped to the Championship at the end of the season. Fellow Welsh outfit Swansea City are considered Cardiff’s fiercest rivals and the two teams take on each other in the South Wales derby.
The colour of Cardiff City’s home kit is blue, whilst they wear red shirts and shorts when playing on the travels.
