Our prediction for this Championship match:
Sheffield Wednesday will be determined to recover from their Steel City derby defeat to Sheffield United when they host Cardiff City at Hillsborough. The Owls will draw confidence from their last home game, a solid 2-0 victory over Norwich City, but they will have to do it without Chalobah, Hamer, Ihiekwe, and Kobacki, who remain in the recovery room.
Cardiff City, meanwhile, continue to struggle on the road, with the Welsh side yet to secure an away win this season. The Bluebirds' lack of consistency away from home has been a key concern, and injuries to Etete, Ralls, Robertson, and Tsunoda only add to their woes. While they have shown flashes of quality, their shaky defence have cost them valuable points on their travels. Given Sheffield Wednesday’s recent home form and Cardiff’s road struggles, we believe that punters from all around the globe can find value in betting on the home side.
Highlighted Player (Josh Windass):
Born in Hull, England on January 9, 1994, John Windass is a professional footballer who plays for Wigan Athletic. Windass is a product of Huddersfield Town youth academy, but he did not play for the Terriers at senior level.
The 175-cm-tall midfielder began his senior career at Accrington Stanley and after scoring 22 goals in 77 appearances in the league for the club, he moved to Glasgow Rangers in the summer of 2016. Two years later Josh Windass joined Wigan Athletic and he has been playing for the DW Stadium outfit ever since. He scored his first Championship goal on September 18, 2018 in a 2-1 win over Hull City.
His main position is attacking midfield, but he is used as both central midfielder and second striker as well. It has to be noted that Josh is the son of former footballer Dean Windass, who played for the likes of Hull City, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Bradford City during his professional career.
Highlighted Team (Cardiff):
Cardiff City are a Welsh football club that compete in the English second tier (Championship). In 2009 they moved from Ninian Park to Cardiff City Stadium, the venue that officially holds 33,280 spectators.
The Bluebirds played their first ever Premier League match on 18 August, 2013, but they were beaten by West Ham United (0-2) on their debut in the English top flight. However, a week later Fraizer Campbell (two goals) and Aron Gunnarson helped Cardiff City record their first ever win in the Premier League.
The Bluebirds outplayed Manchester City back then, but they eventually dropped to the Championship at the end of the season. Fellow Welsh outfit Swansea City are considered Cardiff’s fiercest rivals and the two teams take on each other in the South Wales derby.
The colour of Cardiff City’s home kit is blue, whilst they wear red shirts and shorts when playing on the travels.
